🌾 Modern Prairie Garden

There’s a quiet brilliance in a landscape that evolves beautifully through the seasons —where structure and softness shift in harmony, month by month.

This garden was conceived in the modern prairie style — textural, restrained, and intentionally wild — providing a dynamic counterpoint to the bold architectural form it embraces.

It’s always a joy to collaborate with Gideon Gelber Architect (@gideongelber), whose design clarity and spatial sensibility shaped the framework for this layered, living composition.

More details and images to follow as its character and beauty continue to develop.

Gentleman’s Farm. 🌿

Designed in collaboration with WESKetch Architecture + Construction @wesketch_architecture and built by The Todd Group @thetoddgroupinc, this landscape was conceived as an extension of the architecture - where stone, space, and plantings are composed as a unified whole.

Contemporary bluestone paving, bespoke masonry, and carefully arranged garden rooms create a quiet dialogue between the built form and the surrounding landscape. From the arrival through to the rear terrace and gardens, the experience unfolds through texture, proportion, and sequence.

A thoughtful collaboration brought to life through shared vision, craftsmanship, and an exceptional client.

On a snowy December morning, these homes are dark, quiet—protecting what Frank Lloyd Wright once described as the beating heart of a house.

For Wright, the home existed to protect and dignify the life within. The hearth was never just functional; it was symbolic of warmth, gathering, and shelter.

Love this rustic home in the woods — a collaboration with The Todd Group (@thetoddgroupinc). Designed with sustainability and resiliency in mind, the project embraces low-maintenance materials and a landscape that thrives with minimal watering.

Every element reflects a deep connection to the site — rooted in place, responsive to climate, and built to endure. It’s been rewarding to watch this home evolve and the landscape mature gracefully over time.

Light sifts through Honey Locust leaves,
gathering in quiet shadows.
Hedges cradle the edge,
plantings blur the line—
a sanctuary revealed,
a garden within a garden. 🌿

Landscape Renovation with Purpose 🌿

This wasn’t just a landscape renovation — it was a reconnection.

The existing pool sat disconnected, bearing no relationship to the home’s architecture or the beauty of its wooded surroundings. Our challenge was to create harmony between built and natural environments — and let the forest guide us.

Using thoughtfully designed paving, we reoriented the space to draw the eye into the landscape. Each line and angle of the granite patio guides views outward — framing the trees, inviting stillness, and creating a seamless visual journey from home to forest.

The plantings weren’t an afterthought — they were invited into the experience. By staggering the patio edges, we blurred the boundary between hardscape and softscape, letting the landscape breathe into the space and soften the transition.

This is more than a renovation — it’s a story of reconnection through design.

Where landscape becomes a living gallery.
⠀
This immersive design blurs the boundary between art, garden, and home—composed as a sequence of garden rooms, each with its own atmosphere and intention. Sculptural planting, curated materials, and quiet moments of pause elevate these spaces into meditative vignettes, inviting slow movement and reflection.
⠀
Here, the art doesn’t merely decorate the garden—it dialogues with it. Each piece is deliberately placed to resonate with the tones, textures, and topography of its surroundings. The landscape extends the language of the interiors outdoors, creating a cohesive narrative that is both tactile and experiential.
⠀
It’s not just a garden. It’s a spatial composition—where design, nature, and art converge.

A calibrated extension of the home.

This suburban landscape is conceived as an architectural counterpoint—shaping views, choreographing movement, and resolving site constraints through intentional planting. A grove of Honey Locusts forms a light, porous canopy, anchoring an outdoor gathering space and aligning with primary interior sightlines.

Rhythmically dispersed ginkgos act as spatial markers—punctuating thresholds and layering seasonal texture. Existing masonry walls, once rigid edges, are reinterpreted through masses of planting that mediate privacy, depth, and enclosure.

The result is a landscape that engages architecture as a spatial collaborator—integrating spaces within nature.

Landscapes are more than visual extensions of architecture—they’re opportunities to shape how people feel, think, and live. 🌾

At LANDBOX, our collaborations with architects and interior designers are rooted in a shared belief: that thoughtful outdoor spaces can elevate the architectural experience and enrich individual well-being. By crafting landscapes that engage interiors, respond to the built form, and prioritize sensory connection, we create environments that support mental health, foster calm, and invite daily interaction—ultimately enhancing quality of life. 🌿
