Gala season is upon us and it was only right that we honor the 60th year of the Black Panther Party of self defense. A night of historical precedence, liberation, celebration, and reunion.

The Black Panther Party changed what people believed was possible. Founded in Oakland in 1966, the Party confronted police violence and state repression, but its legacy reaches far beyond resistance alone.

1. We want freedom. We want power to determine the destiny of our Black and oppressed communities.

2. We want full employment for our people.

3.We want an end to the robbery by the capitalists of our Black and oppressed communities.

4. We want decent housing, fit for the shelter of human beings.

5. We want education for our people that exposes the true nature of this decadent American society. We want education that teaches us our true history and our role in the present-day society.

6. We want completely free health care for all Black and oppressed people.

7. We want an immediate end to police brutality and murder of Black people, other people of color, all oppressed people inside the United States.

8. We want an immediate end to all wars of aggression.

9. We want freedom for all Black and poor oppressed people now held in U.S. federal, state, county, city and military prisons and jails. We want trials by a jury of peers for all persons charged with so-called crimes under the laws of this country.

10. We want land, bread, housing, education, clothing, justice, peace and people’s community control of modern technology.

is an internationally known visual artist, musician, performance artist, ATR priestess, film maker, poet/writer of more than three decades experience.

She was born in Kansas City, KS in 1951 and has lived in Tanzania with her husband Pete O’Neal, founder and former Chairman of the Kansas City Chapter of the Black Panther Party and co-founder of the UNITED AFRICAN ALLIANCE COMMUNITY CENTER UAACC in Arusha Tanzania. by @langstynavery

1. Don’t take no one’s advice
2. Take all the support possible for as long as you can.

Overall I wish all the babies in the world a loving and supportive environment to be raised in.

This is the mood of how I feel now that #afronation is wrapped up for 2026. So much energy coming from global diaspora coming together under 3 days of pure joy, dance, energy, and connection. This really felt like the World Cup of human connection. #lifeoflangbang

We was lit right here but gratful for my brother Ike. Of course we saw the rocks and immediately thought we could climb it lol

So much energy it’s crazy. I also wiggled my way into the golden circle 3x while only having a VIP band. The security was so tight it was ridiculous. But they don’t know I have a masters degree in the art of finesse.

Make sure you do a few things today.

1. Wish my mother @dr.turner704 a marvelous Happy Birthday. Grateful for having such wonderful woman raise me and shape me into the man I am today. She’s smart, loving, caring, and silly as hell. One of my favorite things in the world to hear is my mother’s laugh and over the years I’ve been trying to catch her laughing really hard for moments like these.

2. Send her healing energy as she’s recovering from surgery today.
3. Share a story of Dr. Mom that you still remember
4. Make sure to get a good laugh at these next slides

When my mother laughs too hard she damn near dies in laughter. Like it almost looks like she’s in pain because her body will make her laugh too hard and she will stop breathing for a moment.

She’s also the best Nana that any grand baby could ask for. Sevyn is very blessed to have you in her life as an example of what’s possible in this world when you put your mind to it. Thanks for being that for Sevyn !

Another time we were at Lake Chalet in Oakland and she couldn’t stop laughing at the lunch table over something silly im sure.

This was the most recent near death laughing attack that my mother survived. If you listen very closely you can hear the spirit of chubaka come over her body when she started really get into her laugh. This is why I am so silly to this day. My mother always used to laugh at my jokes as a kid and gave me the confidence to be a comedian. Go figure. Look how that worked out. I hope that these laughs helps someone else find the joys in life. I say this all the time but laughter is the cure to depression. If you know someone who hasn’t had a good laugh in today send them these videos and hope their day gets a little bit better from the contagious healing power of laughter and love. 💕 Sending you lots of love today on your birthday Mama Bear! 🐻

I’ve just been free-styling this whole Fatherhood thing since 2019 and then met my reason why in 2020.

It’s been a true honor and blessing to be able to experience the feeling of being a present active Black Father. I love these photos because she looks nothing like this now but she is will forever be this little bushel of Roses in Baba’s eyes.

Shoutout to all the active Dads in the world!
Long live all of the great men who have passed on who were great fathers in this world also!

Happy Juneteenth (say it back before I get Nat Turner to slap your great great grandfather)

Pay a Black artist to perform. Pay a Black educator to speak. Pay a Black organization to show up in your space. Stop asking us to show up for exposure on the one day that was built for us.

Think about what our ancestors actually did on this day. They gathered. They prayed. They fed each other. They celebrated with intention. Do that.

Freedom comes from the Old English “freodom” the power to act, to move, to exist without being owned. Our ancestors did not just want to leave the plantation. They wanted to build. To love freely. To rest freely.

Side Quest Summer Update : Get a taste of an NYC summer. Double points for the Knicks playing 2 home games and Tribeca Film Fest being on the same week. Good catching up with @phil_henderson over a few rounds of chess in the park. Always inspired by the city. I was a fake Jamaican after I had some ox tails in Harlem. The service was terrible but that’s how I knew the food was about to smack.
