Took a trip to the hinterlands of Wisconsin to check out this place. It's neat what can be done with sufficient amounts of wealth and endless human creativity, like building a house into the side of a mountain and filling it with knick-knacks, antiques and player pianos.

It's too bad our current rich jerks are too busy building AI data centers and trying to tear the wires out of our society; this seems like a far more productive use of their time. by @lansdallius

The last couple of months of 2024 have been a bit of a slog, to put it kindly, but most of the year was pretty engaging. I saw a lot of new places, tried new things, made new friends and generally had a pretty good time. Here's to hoping for more good and less bad in 2025. by @lansdallius

Before watching that irritating farce of an Oklahoma football game, I decided to get out of the city for the afternoon. Apparently Illinois has canyons hidden amongst the corn fields. Good hiking. taken in Starved Rock State Park by @lansdallius

Spent yesterday wandering around an island town that banned cars. It's a neat concept and safer for pedestrians and cyclists. The only real downside was trying not to step in horse shit on the less traveled paths.

It did provide an amusing anachronism with the UPS guy riding shotgun on a horse-drawn buggy with Amazon packages in the cart. taken in Mackinac Island, Michigan by @lansdallius
