This artwork is inside me: For my work “(Network of) Self”, 2019-Ongoing, I implanted an NFC microchip capsule in my hand. Stored on the microchip capsule is a crypto code that represents a registry of my artist-self.

This work includes the following: “Terms of Use”, 2019-Current, curated for auction at Christie’s in May 2021 and “This is My Body”, 2019-2020 - the original registration in Codex Protocol. Project Update 8.0

&& ABSTRACT HYBRID - White painting : For this new series of experimental works, I use my symbol (Double And) as a formal element to create “abstractions”... The painting combines algorithms, digital printing and manual painting. The hybrid includes a painting framed with a video on a bespoke LED screen.

Brainwave Sculpture No. 8: Remember, 2023
Brainwave-generated digital sculpture - created via brain computer interface device

Exhibited in the group show “Lifelike” currently at @VELLUM_LA curated by @KATIE_PEYTON_
Thank you to @EPOCH.GALLERY @DOCTOR_WU @RIGHT_CLICKSAVE @ALICESCOPE

This digital sculpture was generated via a brain computer interface device that captures brain activity data. The data is fed into a generative algorithm/ parametric software, and each data channel is mapped to a specific parameter. The software transforms an initial geometry (such as a sphere) into a variety of new forms that are unique and rare.

Via this process, thoughts become forms. This form was generated using brainwave data whilst thinking of the word “remember.” A thought about memory itself has been captured as a form; the sculpture is a literal souvenir of that thought.

The form may also be printed as a 3D physical sculpture.

Brainwave Sculpture : Prototype No. 11 : Tomorrow

Brainwave-generated sculpture [AR version] created via brain computer interface device.

The exhibition opened at @mud.foundation WISPer Edition lab during Art Basel Miami in December and closes on 30 June 2024.

This virtual sculpture was generated using a brain-computer interface device that captures brain activity data. The data is fed into a generative algorithm and parametric software; each channel is mapped to a specific parameter. The algorithm transforms an initial geometry (such as a sphere) into a variety of new forms that are unique and rare.

Via this process, thoughts become forms. This form was generated as the artist thought about the word “tomorrow.” A thought about the future becomes the sculpture itself.

This is a prototype for a performance/generative artwork called The Cyborg Manifesto. Later this year, Lans will tour this series of performances during which he will generate virtual sculptures in real time whilst wearing a brain-computer interface device. For this performance, he will pass 24 hours in a glass pod, connected to a computer running a generative algorithm. These works may be collected as NFTs that will permit the holders to acquire physical versions of the sculptures.

This is a prototype for a performance-generative artwork called The Cyborg Manifesto. For this performance, he will spend 24 hours in a glass pod, connected to a computer running a generative algorithm. These works may be collected as NFTs that will permit the holders to acquire physical versions of the sculptures.

The work was generated specifically for the Ocean biome of Biosphere 2. Beginning with the form of a water droplet, the final sculpture was generated as Lans meditated on the phrase “be like water.” The phrase is attributed to Bruce Lee; it is based on Taoist philosophy about living in a state of flow.

🤍On November 19th, the entire LIFELIKE exhibition will be offered on the @algorand blockchain in an edition of 3. Proceeds will be distributed among the artists and contributors.
