Brief Description-

My thoughts
This book had me at the title and feels perfect to read this month. I really liked at the start how Nina explains everything so it doesn't take to long to grasp what's going on. Having Nina and Patrick go down different paths in yet that path leads them back together. I so enjoyed the magic system of Artisans and the elements both Nina and Theo had. I liked the love triangle between her and Patrick and Theo. Nina faces a dilemma and what side to help with her mothers life hanging in the balance. The ending was absolutely perfect and I'm so glad I took a chance and bought this and the sequel together. And I'm not left wondering what happened next.

Us Dark few review

Brief Description-
Khalani Kanes has never stood on the surface of the Earth. Humans have lived underground for hundreds of years, and she's never left the dark city of Apollo. She longs to visit Genesis the final place where humanity lives beneath the sun. But when Khalani is thrown into prison for a crime she didn't commit.

My thoughts
A dystopia romance I didn't know I needed. I can't imagine being thrown into a prison like Braderhelm. Nor being underground and wanting to see what was out there but bring treated like dirt on the governors shoe. Sure there's spicy but I loved that the plot was the main focus whilst, the cat and mouse feel with captain and Khalani. I really enjoyed the world it was set in and bonded not only with Khalani but with so many of the side characters like Winnie. The ending definitely hit well and bumped the next book up my tbr. Always love trying a new genre.

The Truths We Burn review

Brief Description-
I was ready to watch this town burn after it turned me into it's villan. But then Sage returned. Hollow Heights golden girl, carrying unanswered questions about her sisters death and ghosts better left behind. Everyone falls for her act, sweet innocent broken but I know what she really is.

My thoughts
Soon as the fire ignites between them it could only mean trouble, both get under each others skins yet make each other show their true self's. I loved the devil and Lilith theme through out. I liked Sage in the first book and even more in this book. Under her lies and trickery is a girl underneath who loves her movies and her innocence stamped out. I got so invested in both characters as well as Silas. Of course the spice was spicing and Rook was the outcast vibe but the plot once again stood out. I cannot wait to read the next books. If you love bad boy bikers, and strong fmc this is for you.

Halloween haul

I couldn't resist picking these up on my holiday to add to my spooky tbr this month. I've not really tried horror books buy carry me to my grave drew me in with the cover Sam with Splasher. I love any witch books so had to get a time of witches, I loved witchlore by Emma so had to get night curse!

Smoke and Scar review

Brief Description-

My thoughts-
Both characters have a valid reason to want to win these stories are intertwined much to their dislike for each other. Both carrying the weight of grief. Each trail demands a sacrifice you try and not get attached as you keep reading but I found myself doing so especially with Kit. I really liked the shadow magic and how Elyria own magic develops. Each trail has you willing for both characters to win but I felt torn. Cedric is the perfect brooding fmc and as the story progresses he softens a little. I liked all the surprises and twists through out and the drama. Such a great read and can't wait to read the next two books in the series.

Rook and Rebel review

Brief Description-
Regan I used to have such big dreams, finish college, make beautiful art and take over my dads business. But then I meet street biker, Rook Emberson. He's everything I should fear, but the only one who makes me feel alive.

My thoughts-
Why didn't I read this book sooner! I love the premise of this book a bad boy biker stalker and a criminal business man's daughter who meet after, her boyfriend elliot leaves her when Rook threatens them. For Rook this is an opportunity to seek his revenge for the loss of his family he's determined just to use her but his ficus changes. The spice is definitely spicing throughout especially the bike scene. But my favourite part has to be when Rebel finds out why Rook has been around her so much, and then learning about her father she faces such a dilemma but then comes into her own. Loved this book!

The Lies We Steal review

Brief Description-
At the Hollow Heights University, secrets are buried deeper than the dead. What began as a fresh start in the wealthy seaside town of Ponderosa Springs became a descent into violence, obsession and revenge.

My thoughts-
A dark romance I didn't know I needed but so glad I bought the rest of the series. I loved alongside the romance you have getting justice for Rose even if it leads to death one by one of who the Hallow boys think did it. What starts as Briar trying to put her troubled past with her getting a scholarship, everything goes in a very different direction with meeting the black sheep Alistair, and coming across him seeing something she can't unsee. From that moment she gets tangled up in his dark world. As the plot unravels they come across corruption in the rich families who have influence in the school. So enjoyed book one and bumped up book two in my tbr! I'm so glad the works have this series and each one has sprayed edges! Also I'm obsessed with the cover art.

Blood Bound review

Brief Description-

My thoughts-
This book had me at a fated to die and witches, dragons, familiars. Both Astrid and Skylar are opposite sides of a coin in yet much as they must face the possibility of death and expectations somehow they through events in the book find a way to solve their problems whilst realising that their fate could possibly look different. I liked both of the characters development throughout especially Skylar. the plot building was chefs kiss! Then there's the romance which I loved! The ending was absolutely perfect and once again convinced by a book I need a dragon 😂 definitely worth the hype can't wait for book two!

Daybreak review

Brief Description-
Now his world is burning down, and Ophelia Winters is desperate to prove she didn't light the match. When she first joined Sorrowsong University she wanted nothing more than to destroy Alex and his high powered family. But that was before she knew him- before she fell for the man behind the reputation.

My thoughts-
It had everything that got me obsessed in book one and somehow took it to the next level. Alex literally needs a bookmark fanning warning and you will melt on each of his chapters. You almost will Alex to see that Ophelia wasn't responsible for the article. I loved that through his mother he finally saw that. Both characters are fighting grief of losing a parents. The yearning from both characters was everything. I also liked how the plot built I did however slightly prefer the first one. But I couldn't put it down and much as I'd like another book it ended perfectly. I love the cover art over the other edition from the works.

My thoughts
Firstly I'd like to thank you @hqstories for sending me this proof advance copy! I won't give too much away yet so don't worry about spoilers. What I can say is from the first page to the last page there were twists I didn't see coming but couldn't wait to read what they'd mean for the characters. I also liked I highlighted what social media can be like with conspiracy theories. I also liked it wasn't just if Eden is Tippi, but other parts of the plot that linked together so clevely. To the point where I went wait what out loud and had to re read what I had read. Great crime book to curl up with this autumn!
