BLURB:
The Old Powers have awakened. A new threat is coming, and only the hunters can stop it.
Eden Lincoln is not your average twenty-one year old. Trained from a young age to hunt the
supernatural, Eden is on a journey to find out what happens to her younger brother, Sam, who
disappeared without a trace from their family home six years ago.

Dean Armstrong is a soldier, a hunter, an outcast. Excited from his home of Chicago, he's been
sent to the UK. Now, Dean is on the warpath, furiously tracking the demon who kidnapped his
younger brother, Mitch.

Dean and Eden end up on a collision course, and when they finally meet, all Dean wants is to
tame her, possess her... Break her. However, Eden is not a prize easily won, nor a woman easily
broken.

Forced together by circumstance, and bound together by a shared goal, Dean and Eden face
their biggest battle yet... Something is stalking and murdering people on the hill. This will be a
enemy like they've never faced before, but only by defeating an Old Power will Dean and Eden be
one step closer to their missing brothers.

No battle is ever bloodless...

Listen For The Lie by @amytintera

This months Bookclub read was Listen For The Lie and it was a good’un! Looking forward to meeting with the gals on Saturday at the pub and no doubt talking about everything but the book 🙈🤪😂

It was told partly by the main character Lucy & partly in a podcast with interviews which made it fun & kept you interested.

Initially I wasn’t sure if I liked Lucy but I warmed to her not so perfect, dark humoured, sarcastic yet honest hot mess self and many times her quick wit had me laughing out loud!

There were a lot of characters in what appears to be a relatively small town and man were some of those characters sketchy with many a skeleton in a closet!
I liked the short chapters, loved the grandma & although I did guess ‘whodunnit’ about 3/4 of the way through it didn’t ruin anything, those last few chapters and me racing through with a slightly quickened heart beat!

🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me

‘Am I a murderer? You tell me . . .

Lucy Chase can’t remember anything about the night her best friend was murdered.
Lucky her, you’re probably thinking. Who would want that to be their last memory of someone they love?
But for Lucy, it’s become an issue.

Because everyone thinks she did it.

But that was five years ago, and Lucy has put it all behind her. Or at least, she thought she had, until an interfering yet not bad-looking podcaster offers her the opportunity to join his investigation into the night she forgot.

On the one hand, if she’s a murderer, it’s probably better to know – right? On the other, if she didn’t do it, she’ll be putting herself back in the sights of the person who did.

And either way, if you’ve already killed once, what’s to stop you from doing it again?’

Have you read this one?

Thank you so much to @clairesbookobsession for tagging me to do the An English Countryside challenge.

I wanted my stack to include my answers but some of the ones that fit best were arcs or ebooks so instead I've gone with a nature inspired stack featuring floral sprayed edges and nature based words. At least I get to show off my latest book, right?

🌳 HEDGEROW WHISPERS - A quiet, introspective read with a touch of nature... THE BEAR AND THE NIGHTINGALE

🌳 MEADOW MAJESTY - A story as sprawling and beautiful as the rolling hills... THE MORRIGAN

🌳 WINDING PATH - A book with twists and turns you didn't expect... THE RAVEN SCHOLAR

🌳 STEEP CLIMB - A challenging read that was worth the effort... OLD SOUL

🌳 RUSTIC CHARM - A heartwarming, rural tale that feels like a breath of fresh air... LITTLE THIEVES

🌳 COUNTRY LANE CLASSIC - A timeless novel you'd bring on a countryside retreat... EMILY WILDE’S ENCYCLOPAEDIA OF FAERIES

There's no pressure on anyone that I've tagged. And I'll probably share the third that I was tagged in sometime Tuesday (as tomorrow looks to be a busy day).

What nature based words are in your book titles?

(Surely I'm not the only one surrounded by thorns)

COMMENTS:
🎀 This was a quick read for me! I have also read Normal People (Rooney’s second release after CwF) and I did prefer it, but this book was still very enjoyable!

🎀 There were times where the protagonist, Frances, grated on me a little - however I feel like this was Rooney’s intention. She portrays her as human, flawed, immature and stubborn at times. So arguably, she wrote her very well as that clearly came across!

🎀 I enjoyed the exploration of non conventional relationship styles throughout. I look forward to watching the TV series adaption as I’m intrigued how they will portray these complicated characters.

🎀 I would recommend this book if you want a quick, easy and enjoyable read!
