Nicole gets married today. 🥹

And as a sentimental long-distance bitch, the only appropriate way I knew how to deal with the FOMO was to write. :-)

When I think about almost 20 years of friendship, I think about Frozen 2’s “Some Things Never Change.” Because JUSQLORD so much has!!

We met as two high school girls with matching bags and cars, singing Hannah Montana and aggressively performing the Hoedown Throwdown. We grew up, grew apart, moved to different places, became completely different versions of ourselves, and yes— we didn’t talk for two years hahahah sana kasi nagsuntukan na lang tayo. 😂

But somehow, through all of it, some things never changed.

It’s still my porch at Verdepino Drive. It’s still sinigang with extra patis, fighting over Cookies ’n Cream, spontaneous lakads, arguing over what to order on Foodpanda, Hannah Montana, ABBA, and communicating with one brain cell because somehow I still know exactly what you’re thinking.

Maybe that’s the beautiful thing about growing up with someone. You can change so much and still recognize each other instantly. There’s still that feeling of there you are.

And now, you’re getting married. 🥹

I hate that I can’t be there, but I know we’ll celebrate soon! And I will probably be asking where I can sleep and whether there’s somewhere to latag. 😂

You’re getting a husband. I’m getting another reason to come home more often. Fair trade. 🫶🏻

Nicole, I love you. I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become, and so grateful I got to know every version along the way.

Here’s to this new chapter, to everything that will change, and to all the things that never will.
