Our limited edition print, 'Slingshot in Viridian and Cerulean', with British artist @lee_simmonds_art is still available ✨

Lee Simmonds creates uncanny and mysterious scenes inspired by his suburban upbringing and his interest in theatre.

His artworks reside on a boundary of familiar and strange, ironic and grotesque.

While his work is figurative, he would describe his process as fairly akin to that of the abstract painter, often conveying meaning through his use of loose brushstrokes and vibrant colours.

Simmonds' work explores his subconscious and imagination, resulting in works displaying subtle simmering narratives open to the viewer's interpretation.

'Behind the Scenes', our third work released this week with @oriele_steiner_art is a unique gouache on paper 🖌️

Oriele Steiner's compositions are derived from Steiner’s very ‘British’ sense of humour - simultaneously comical and dark; surreal yet totally, relatedly human.

Fears and taboos leap out of the work, imagery and motifs from personal moments transform themselves in the viewer’s mind, Oriele asking us to judge whether the privacy of these moments is intimate or gross - perhaps a more traditional British comedian would quip “what’s the difference?”.

Original Work on Paper (Unique)
Dimensions: 21 x 29.5 cm (8.3 x 11.6 in)
Medium: Gouache on paper

'It's Ok to Play' is our second work on paper released this week with @oriele_steiner_art 💫

Oriele Steiner's paintings are deliberately layered with conflicting emotions - she wishes to place whimsical moments on stage for the world to see, like single frames taken from a comic strip; whilst her compositions imply they exist as part of a larger story, they task us with considering a particular moment.

Dimensions: 30 x 42 cm (11.8 x 16.5 in)
Medium: Gouache on paper

Oriele Steiner’s work explores a wide array of painting techniques and processes, using colour and light as the dominant means of experimentation.

Our limited edition print with American artist Philemona Williamson, 'A Patient Spirit' is launching today 💫

Philemona Williamson's vibrantly coloured, dynamic paintings feature adolescents intermingled and engaged in evocative poses and actions within mysterious settings. They suggest various transitions and stages of life from childhood through adulthood.

Of indeterminate age, gender, and ethnicity, the figures often seem caught in awkward, enigmatic moments which seduce the viewer into a labyrinth of open-ended questions. Poetically titled, the works invite the viewer to use one’s imagination to try to interpret their complex, allegorical narratives.

Williamson has affirmed that her painted metaphorical narratives are about interpersonal relationships and are often inhabited by figures of varying complexions alluding to multi-racial ethnicities. This co-existence and the story-telling aspects of her work probe the psychological landscape of adolescence, blurring the lines between race, gender, and class.

'A Patient Spirit' is a Limited Edition of 25 Archival Pigment Prints on Hahnemühle PhotoRag 308 gsm

'Strawberry Fields Forever III (After The Beatles)', our first work on paper by @erik_den_breejen is available 💫

Erik den Breejen’s text paintings and works on paper investigate the narrative and cultural significance of the written word as well as its potential for abstraction - a means of exploring the language of painting itself.

In his work, letters function as compositional elements of the same weight as the geometric shapes with which they interact. The artist pushes the bounds of legibility and conventional design to challenge and engage the viewers, drawing them into a world of colour where positive and negative space often reverse.

Reading images and reading words are two different processes. Den Breejen enjoys playing with both at once, exploring where one is subsumed by the other. The artist often references music, song lyrics and album titles in his work as well as quotes from poetry, novels, film and stand-up comedy - exploring culture at large through his intricate and colourful works.

Introducing 'Orange Grove', our third work on paper by California-based artist @j.carino.art 🍑

J. Carino is a Riverside, California-based figurative artist working in a variety of mixed-media. Influenced by many decorative arts, his paintings and drawings explore ideas of queerness, identity, sensuality, and nature through richly patterned, coloured, and layered figures and flora.

His work depicts monumental nude, queer figures in landscapes that are both idyllic and tinged with danger. Wrestling with ideas of traditional fertility and queer intimacy, J. Carino explores how the creation of our sense of self is connected with the natural world.

Original Work on Paper (Unique)
Dimensions: 46 x 61 cm (18 x 24 in)
Medium: Pastel and coloured pencil on paper
