At the start of my photography career, I thought the “brand” behind my work was the aesthetic. The lighting. The shadows. The mood. The sensuality. The posing. But over time I realized something deeper was happening in the room. Clients weren’t responding most to the camera. They were responding to presence. To being witnessed by someone who had also done the work of meeting herself honestly. Boudoir photography has never really been about lingerie to me. It’s about intimacy. Truth. Identity. The tension between who we’ve been and who we’re becoming. I’ve found that the more connected I became to myself — my voice, my body, my artistry, my sensuality, my humanity — the more depth began showing up in my images. I learned how to see people differently. This summer, I’m honored to be teaching at the Bokeh Photo Summit in Atlanta. 📸 My workshop: Boudoir & Brand: Photographing From Self-Intimacy A 90-minute hands-on experience for photographers who want to create work that feels emotionally resonant, authentic, embodied, and unmistakably their own. We’ll explore: • developing artistic voice through authenticity • photographing from presence instead of performance • emotional safety + connection in the client experience • embodiment and movement direction • creating imagery that feels personal, not performative • and how your relationship with yourself shapes the work you create And yes, we’re shooting too 📸 Honestly, this conversation feels incredibly timely for the industry right now. ✨ My 2025 Wrapped ✨ This year stretched me, softened me, and expanded the way I lead, create, and connect. From Erotic Expansion Wellness to signature retreats, identity-shifting events, mentoring creatives, rebuilding community, celebrating 10 years of marriage, and receiving the Top Black Boudoir Photographer award — 2025 was a portal. “You look so…sad.” There’s not a more accurate and fitting statement about this flawlessly executed look. Creating this character gave me permission to feel…I mean really feel something honest and true and deeply present in my body. Sadness. No covering it up with humor. No masking it with “I’m fine.” No spiritual bypassing. The cold, honest truth— that I have loved and lost. Over and over and over again. May you too find it in you to be so brave. Yall: 🧐 where you been? Me 👁️👄👁️🥛 I’ve been remembering what it’s like to live life. Intently watching my children move, grow, develop into more of who they are becoming. Enjoying the juxtapositions of life while creating new daily rituals. Reactivating my engineering career and integrating what I’ve learned since my 9 year hiatus Marveling at the power that my friends have over audacious men 🤣😭 Because quite frankly…I missed her too! 😘 Celebrating the beautiful little ladies who brought us together by sheer willpower 💕 Bestie turned 40. Whole lotta cake 😌🎂 I heard whispers from the oak tree during a forest and sound bath at @conesteepreserve. My daughter joined our facilitator @soulshine_res and sent me some love and healing while I was deep into meditation. ✨ What a gift. Cleaned up to surprise our friend, Joe, for his 40th! (Special appearance by my 💪🏾💪🏾 I’ve been working hard on) From Line Sisters to Life Sisters. I’m so glad to get to grow in love with such a light-filled woman. I’m so proud of who we’ve become to and for ourselves and our families. 🫶🏾 Thank God for Hip Hop Wednesdays at the RH. Thank God for B.White. 🌊 🍎🍏 Apples of my eye. The tribe of Champions. And to traditions with chosen family. 🥂 More time in the analog room hearing, “I’ve heard that before.” Being upheld by genuine friendship > A fresh cut and color is just what the doctor ordered. @officialkendralashay never misses. Reclaiming my creative process means being a beginner all over again. I haven’t played saxophone since the 8th grade. Right now every squeak and scale misstep is forging something in me beyond playing music—but in my artistry as a whole. I pray I continue to smile and laugh through it, offering myself the grace to take my time, be okay with being mediocre…publicly, and focus instead on playing the saxophone and not prematurely taking on the identity of being a saxophonist. taken in Greenville, South Carolina by @latoyadixonsmith
