POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

It’s a surreal pleasure to be featured in this month’s @torontolife Cost of Living column.

It’s weird having my financial laundry aired in print, but I said yes because I wanted to challenge what “success” is supposed to look like and dismantle the starving artist narrative. This comes after one of my lower-income tax years, despite it also being a year filled with milestones.

A quick disclaimer: this piece was edited for clarity thus many key expenses hit the cutting room floor including my unwilling patronage of @avid.protools + oodles of subscription costs that are a very real part of the equation.

Thanks to journalist Roxy Kirshenbaum and photographer @britcarmichael for telling this story with care.

Article in my linktree.

The last couple of months have been a blur of sound checks, divine stage fashion [if I may say so] and continuing to find myself in the BEST company.

In particular I want to immortalize these photos that @joelgale.imaging took at the @freshsnowmusic gig feat. @trentemoeller. Such a joy to contribute chin guitar to my longtime FS buds Tim, Jon, Brad and Andy. There might just be a new album on the way 🤐 (am I allowed to say that?)

The 2nd single [Windbourne Sorcery I] from our upcoming @volurdoom album [Breathless Spirit, avail. Aug 8] is now streaming on alllllllll the sacrificial art streaming platforms.

Lucas @bethegar took the lead composer role on this one, influenced by his tanbur studies with his maestro Reza Houshvar. I took electric violin to new uncanny heights & @_cares cast sonic spells over everything.

If what you hear makes you feel, consider supporting us by:

A) Pre-ordering the physical vinyl — the diehard package includes a bonus 7” and specially formulated tea by @helenandhildegard to heighten your listening experience. Order now via @black_throne_productions

B) Attending our release show on Aug 8, @tranzac292 presented by @burndownthecapital , featuring 20 years of @nadjaluv

Hey neighbour,
You are missed and have left a gaping void in Cabbagetown and beyond.
Taco licks his chops and pulls expectantly towards your house.
For the record, the last baked potato you made me was a 6.2 (at best), so I hope you get a crack at perfecting that on the other side.
RIP boss.
Tune into @jazzfm91 TONIGHT 9pm (Friday) for a special episode celebrating the life of Craig Martin with Ronnie Littlejohn, with contributions from the @classicalbumslive family. by @lauracbates

Some gigs come with the best days around them.

Black River Kayaking with Cousin Carol, Bigwin Island, Lake Rosseau. Paddles, stars, swimming against currents with my pal Jade who always says yes to adventure and also eats as much as I do.

Today we release Geoerges E. Sioui’s debut album, For All Tomorrows. Decades in the making, this album ‘brims with wonder’, as Matt Horseman eloquently described it in the Globe and Mail. We are thankful beyond measure to support this work.

A message from our dear Georges on the day of this release:

I am a Huron

I am you, you are me

You are a Huron

I am whatever you are

Life is one family

Life is a circle

A circle has no sides

There is no distance between us

I love you, my brother

I love you, my sister.

Dear Friend (Athoro),I wish to express my entire gratefulness for the interest you take in my music! Atouyeh! Etsakon! (Thank you! Keep a cheerful heart!)
