Daily doodle 2. Very medically inaccurate drawing of the bane of my existence, my medical norm defying right knee. I’m still coming to terms with accepting there was nothing I could have done differently to prevent the second chip and that we will probably never know what caused big fracture one or tiny avulsion fracture two. First quick sketch back of the immensely talented and wise @sarabareilles based on some photos I took at her concert at MGM Fenway earlier this month. What a transcendent concert - cannot stop listening to the album. Definitely still quite rusty with my drawing skills and the confidence that I will remember how to draw is not back yet but it felt so good to be drawing again. My anxious critical brain is still there but one day of sketching at a time! Hello! I’m back! Taking this account out of hibernation 🤪 I have done some bad art this year, just haven’t wanted to post. Got in my anxiety headspace about not reaching my own standards, and then got too anxious to do art. But I put down the gouache and have started back drawing where I feel more comfortable. afternoon sketch of Helen and Carol in blue. Using colored pencils, which are harder to erase, made me make quick decisions and just move forward when I made mistakes and get forms and shadows in early. I really love how it came out with the blues. Departing from my beloved graphite for @fabercastellusa polychromos. So many big plans for this break but I’ve been in a depression hole since (probably) tearing my meniscus and + have been in a lot of pain. Some warm up doodles pre tear and a video flipping through my high school drawing and design notebook I found while cleaning. Hopefully will be back soon 🩷 by @lauradreamsofdrawing

More quick portrait practice. Unfortunately I cannot seem to break out of my normal style, I want to be more intuitive and less detailed oriented in sketching but I don’t know how. But happy that this is a better likeness of Carol/Rhea Seehorn than my first quick sketch! And my first sketch of @karolina_wydra /zosia turned out better too. Throwback Sunday because I’ve been thinking so much about the incredible and unfortunately embattled CFPB, the Warren campaign (my NH for Warren fellow alums particularly 🤍🤍) and cultivating hope. A quick re-entry into drawing of @janegoodallinst . She played a huge role in my childhood dreams of being a scientist and if you knew me between ages 10 and 14, I probably talked your ear off about her research and roots and shoots.
