I met @regal_swan at a convention in Texas maybe 2 or 3 years ago—she had made a fantastic Rosalina motorcycle outfit cosplay, and she had even made a luma for me to sign for her. She was interested in studying acting but not quite sure how to make it happen and was asking me questions about it—I remember her being so smart and kind, but also very shy as we talked about things she could do to start pursuing her dream. Over the next couple years I saw her at a few more conventions, and she’s sent me updates about her journey into acting, as she’s now majoring in theatre, doing plays, and starting to look into VO work. She came to @classicgamefest this weekend and it took me a second to even realize that it was her when she walked up because it was literally like meeting a new person—same kindness, same intelligence, but now carrying herself with this absolutely megawatt level of confidence and clarity and radiating so much joy. I wanted to post about it because she’s such a great reminder to follow your dreams, to take those first small steps and even just start asking questions to help keep them alive. It’s also a great reminder that the ARTS ARE IMPORTANT, and can be one of the most impactful and transformative experiences in a young person’s life both personally and academically so support, fund, and vote for the arts whenever you can. AND, she made me my own Luma, and I could not love it more 🩵🌟🥹. Thank you Samantha, I am so proud of you and so excited to see where your journey takes you! taken in Austin, Texas by @laurafayesmith
