Exhibition: Skin Ego
Until 11 August the exhibition is shown at @fotomuseumdenhaag.
.
“In Laura Hospes’s first solo museum exhibition, we can almost touch her skin. In her work, Hospes (NL, 1994) painstakingly explores her complicated relationship with her own body. She visually dissects it in her photographs, videos, installations and performances, ruthlessly capturing every detail. She sculpts and manipulates her body by assuming contorted postures and by applying materials such as plaster, silicone and paint. Her almost obsessive documenting of her body is part of a process of restoring her mental health and recording how this process has shaped (and distorted) her view of her physical self.”

7 years ago (!!) I started the Patreon Volume series. Every 4 months I make a book for a select group of patrons that (financially) support my practice. I gave myself cart blanche: no size, page or subject limits. I learned to bind books in several ways, I printed my body on #5 Skin Perceptions, found a way to show my video work in a book in #12 Frame by Frame, learned myself to sew at #18 fluid. Everytime I learned to approach my work from another perspective. Now #21 Mitosis is shipped: a series of uncropped Polaroids of the last few years.
You can find and go through volume 1 to 19 on my website (www.laurahospes.com). Yes I need to photograph the last 2 editions as well. If you want to become a patron, it’s €327 per year and you would be an amazing contribution to my artist practice. (Also a nice Christmas gift!)
Special thanks to all my patrons!! 🫶🏻 by @laurahospes

Presentation box How to Disappear (Act I and II).
This is what you receive when buying something like a film or performance of my work. The box is custom made by yours truly 💁🏼‍♀️. Very proud of the brushes that are attached using magnets… The box pictured is off to its buyers. ✨🚀 @lang.gallery.nl

The Breather.
Is there someone in my followers list who can help me automate it? I now have to blow in it manually, but I like to have other options. by @laurahospes
