Rose Garden of the Fairies- 12” x 36” oil on wood panel 🧚🏼‍♂️🌸💫
My hope and inspiration with this painting was to create a sense of magical enchantment and beauty, giving the feeling of wandering into a secret garden from a forgotten fairy tale. I share a few stages of it here along with my color palette so you can see how it came to life! I would love to know what memories or feelings it brings to you 🌹🍃 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

In this 8” x 10” oil and acrylic painting I call “Apricot Sunburst”, my focus was to create the idea of light radiating from the rose itself. I began by building the background in acrylic, using Saran wrap to pull the paint outward into delicate lines that suggest rays of light moving through the garden.

The rose was then painted in oils, allowing me to soften the transitions and capture the way the light gently turns across each petal. I loved watching that light give the flower its sense of fullness and dimension, while the looser, textured background seemed to make it glow even more.

As the painting developed, the warm apricot center became almost like a quiet source of warmth...radiating outward and allowing the rose to emerge softly from the surrounding shadows.

I would love to hear how this piece resonates with you ⭐️🎶🎨💕 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

“Spring Tree Peonies” 8” x 10” oil on panel🌸🍃 This painting depicts a grouping of tree peonies that asked me to paint them with their beautiful petals and soft blush colors. I really wanted to give the feeling of movement in their petals and the air around them shown in the greens...as if the garden was breathing. Long revered in gardens as symbols of prosperity, honor, beauty, and renewal, tree peonies embody the richness of Spring and the promise of new beginnings. My hope is that this painting invites you to pause and appreciate nature’s quiet poetry, with every bloom as a reminder of life’s continual unfolding🧚‍♀️💫 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

“Roses of Eden” is an 8” x 10” oil painting on wood panel inspired by the feeling of discovering something secret and beautiful, a garden just beyond the visible world. The deep shadows and softly illuminated petals create a sense of mystery, as though these roses have been waiting quietly in their hidden sanctuary to be found.

Perhaps Eden was never a place we left behind, but a place that still reveals itself when we learn how to see in a new way 🌸🌹🧚‍♀️ ✨ taken in Scottsdale by @laurakrusemark

“Cosmic Rose”
8” x 10” oil + acrylic on panel

In this oil painting, I focused on creating a sense of depth and dimensionality, imagining a different kind of garden... one where the entire cosmos becomes a garden and every star a flower. The rose seems to be floating in the infinite cosmos, reminding us that the smallest wonders of nature often reflect the grandeur of the Universe itself…As Above, So Below.

Let’s go cosmic gardening 😅🌹🍃🧚‍♀️💫 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

“Mystic Garden Rose”
8” x 8” oil on canvas

There are places that exist somewhere between memory and imagination… I created this oil painting as a reflection on those quiet hidden spaces that invite us to slow down, wonder / wander ☺️.. and to remember the beauty that grows within is a reflection of the outer.. As within, so without.. as above, so below 🌹
A special thank to my amazing, talented friend and legendary artist Dale Terbush @daleterbushartist for his guidance in working with acrylic grounds as seen in this one here.. please check out his incredible artwork if you haven’t already - you will be inspired as I was so many years ago when I came upon his masterful creations 🥰🎨‼️🔥 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

“Oro e Ombra” - Oil on wood panel ✨🌟✨🌟✨ This portrait grew from an exploration of light and contrast using a limited palette centered around gold, black, and warm flesh tones. I was interested in the relationship between the figure and the decorative elements of the veil, as well as the contrast between luminous and shadowed passages.

Drawing inspiration from historical portraiture and sacred imagery, I focused on creating a balance between strong design, quiet expression, and painterly surface quality. The interplay of rich darkness and glowing light creates a timeless atmosphere, inviting one into a space of contemplation and wonder. I would love to hear your thoughts on this recent creation and what it brings to mind for you 🌟 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

Hidden among leaves and shadow, she appeared for only a moment. Yet somehow, she already knew my name. 🌿✨ I’m happy to share my recent oil painting with you here which began as an experimental study using wiped-out passages of wet paint and Gamsol to establish the initial image. From there, I gradually built up the focal areas, particularly the face, with additional layers and refinement. The process allowed me to explore the contrast between spontaneous mark-making and carefully developed detail within a portrait setting. Balancing strength with vulnerability, the painting invites viewers to imagine the story unfolding just beyond the frame 🖼️ I call this one “She Knew My Name” which I felt was fitting to invite a story element 😅 📖 She is available for purchase on my website. Thank you for being here and a part of my creative journey 🙏🏼💕 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

Happy Summer my friends + family🌹🍃

I hope you’re enjoying the long days and abundant beauty of summer.. or Winter in the Southern Hemisphere! And speaking of abundant beauty, over the past several weeks, I’ve been observing one of Summer’s beauties - roses :) These small oil studies began as simple explorations in brushwork and subtle layers allowing me to slow down and focus on the fleeting qualities that make each bloom unique.

Working on a smaller scale has been a refreshing reminder of how much can be discovered through careful observation and a few deliberate brushstrokes. I hope you enjoy these little creations and can imagine smelling their amazing fragrance! taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark

“Gatchina” mastercopy ⭐️
12” x 12” oil on wood panel

I came across an awesome artist named Ilya Chirin @chirun_ilya and was inspired to create this painting after his work. He does an amazing job with his light, color, and movment in a beautifully rendered, but yet impressionistic way. I loved the diversity of his marks and wanted the focus of this study to be primarily on brushwork, atmosphere, and mark-making.

I’ve been interested lately in allowing the paint itself to speak more freely...letting edges dissolve, textures breathe, and movement become part of the language of the piece.

Creating this study helped me build new brushwork “tools” as well as giving me different perspective on”reality”😅 Thank you for joining me on this adventure through a sea of marks and colors… and thank you to Ilya for his beautiful creations.. check out the inspiring creations in his IG link above ⬆️ 🌊🎨 taken in Scottsdale, Arizona by @laurakrusemark
