🧡 what do you love about this season ? 🍁🍂🍄‍🟫

when i think of autumn colours, i think orange, red, yellow, brown. which is coincidentally the same colours as a volcanic eruption so naturally the first post of autumn is vesuvius. (it makes sense).
if you missed it i have the honour of being a part of the wonderful street team for this books sequel; icarus fell ! 🪽 and guys … cover reveal NEXT WEEK !! to those who haven’t picked up this book, i urge you to not walk, but run and fall in love with these characters that cass enjoys torturing ever so much 🥰

autumn is my favourite season, still is despite the hell it’s put me through, and i just love the cozy feelings. it gets dark earlier, jumpers come out, it’s acceptable to order a billion hot chocolates 🤤 i’d take a cozy autumn evening over a summers day, any time 🤩

What book is your comfort?

i’ve always been open about my mental health struggles, and well let me honest, this year has been tough. I always struggle with my mental health during the summer months, and especially this year. I’m happy to be seeing the end of what feels like an extremely tiring summer, and what better way to start the season than with an all for the game reread. Despite being a book full of troubles and triggering content, the overall message is one of hope and survival which inspires me a lot during down days.

Not every day will be terrible and there is so much to look forward to. I am seeing an incline in my mental health, and I am always trying to take steps to keep it steady. Never be disappointed if you suffer a downward streak, life is full of ups and downs. If you’re down, just look towards your next up 💛

What book started your reading journey?

Though I didn’t start reading with the shadowhunter chronicles, it is the first series i got fully invested in release by release, and that hasn’t changed.
I started reading city of bones when i was 12, that’s over a decade of being in love with this world. I can’t quite believe that in a few short months this series will begin its end. After reading the dark artifices i became In Love with Kit and Ty and so i am super hyped to see their story !

Today marks a very special day; 7 years ago, i started reading the foxhole court.
In the midst of the worst breakdown i’d had, with my future uncertain and feeling hopeless, i fell into the foxes. These books, these characters, are everything to me. They got me through, and continue to, get me through difficult parts of my life. These self published books hold my life and I feel so lucky to have them.

💛🩵 heartstopper forever is out now🩵💛

A chapter has closed with the release of the heartstopper movie, 5 years of the most beautiful story being brought to life.
I was lucky enough to be able to celebrate it in the most wonderful way.
A little over two weeks ago i received an email, id won the competition and was invited to the heartstopper premiere. My ticket was original for the screening and q+a but there was space and so a few of us were able to get to the carpet. It was such a whirlwind of an experience, to meet yaz and rhea, to see the cast and crew.
The most special part to me, was watching the ending with the cast, crew and the fans who made heartstopper what it is. I laughed, I cried, i was joyous and sad but most of all i was so thankful. Thankful to be queer, thankful to see this story.
Over the past 6 years, Heartstopper has meant a lot to me, it’s not quite settled in that it’s over but i’ll have the memories and love forever. Be sure to swipe for some premiere antics and memories over the years 🩵

🖤what has been your favourite release so far this year?

i return from the grand void to talk about my favourite book so far in 2026. I was lucky enough to get an e-arc in april and i was blown away. As someone who isn’t a huge lover of dark academia on page, this book had everything i needed in a story. brair was a wonderful main character, not perfect in the most incredible way. flawed but intentionally and has growth, we love to see it.
i could go on for days about this, but at fear of rambling i will just say this; go out, read this book, immerse yourself in the words lex has written, and fall in love with it.

also Super excited to be in manchester next week and hear lex talk all things brair in one of my favourite places, perfect early birthday treat ✨

⭐️what is your most re- watched tv show?

hello hello !!
look it’s me posting a book.
if you told me last time i posted pre hiatus my first post back would be about heated rivalry, i wouldn’t have believed you.
i’d see this so much here on booksta, even more on my twitter after the trailer dropped but i never thought i’d enjoy it. in october my mum got sick*, i spent days panicking an needed something to take my mind off of it. enter stage right: heated rivalry.
i consumed it within days and henceforth became obsessed. i got to watch the show as it came out with everyone and feel the buzz of it taking off. it’s going to always feel special for me, it took my mind off the horrors of my mum not being well and the show was so comforting.

being a reader will always shock you, and i love that. sometimes a book you thought you would never read is exactly what you need. sometimes, it’ll become one of your favourites and you’ll sit there thinking, why didn’t i read it sooner?

*my mum is okay now! lots of hospital appointments and scans, lots of meds and still a few unanswered questions but she’s doing good. she’s even reading heated rivalry (i’m not joking)

🩵 hello booksta, it’s been a while !

i can’t even begin to explain how hectic these months have been, from familial health issues to getting a job (seasonal and i realised i am Made to be Unemployed), to sooo much brain fog, my head wasn’t in the space for bookstagram. sometimes taking a break (albeit unplanned) is exactly what you need to get back on track.

having been gone for a lil while i thought id take this moment to (re)introduce me, i would have done it nick jonas camp rock 2 style but let’s not think about me singing.

im so happy to be back and i can’t wait to start chatting books with you all soon, MWAH 🩵🩵🩵

🧡do you like writing?

who doesn’t want to read a roommate second chance queer romance?
this book sounded so up my alley and i was thrilled to be accepted for it on netgalley a couple months ago. i did have a few issues with it but overall it was so sweet and wasn’t a total trans horror story (which i loved). i really liked the friendships and the side character building.

in this book, jasper is a poet. i have never been a poetry person. i tried in high school and college to get into the ones we studied but i just didn’t have the brain span to properly understand most of them. but i do love novel writing, currently doing a full rewrite and rework of a story i’ve been working on for a little while now 😸

🧡 what would be your ideal first date?

today is my date on the wonderful build-a-boyfriend project tour, hosted by @pridebooktours 🩵

this was such a wonderful and cute read, with two characters who help each other improve. there is so much character development, you really see eli become such a better person, one who fights for what he wants. it’s a heartwarming cozy story and just perfect for this time of year.
i was personally touched by the small but important section on grief, eli’s situation mirroring my own in such a hard way. it was so difficult to read but beautiful. not every story that includes grief has to centre on it, but so many people have lost loved ones, and our life doesn’t revolve around that. so i really loved that aspect of it.

it’s an amazing story and a relationship you really root for. if you’re interested, this book is out now 💛

🧡 what is your favourite mode of transport?

a huge thank you to @harper360ya for gifting me this gorgeous book 🎀

my parents didn’t drive, and my dad was a train driver so growing up, all of my journeys were by train (and still mostly are today). i love taking the train, it’s relaxing and feels safe. finding the premise of this book and realising the main location was a cross country train, i was sold.
i’m about 40% of the way through and so far i am really enjoying it. i love the cast of characters and the almost round family aspect of the passengers. the conversations surrounding sexuality and religion too have been super interesting. i can’t wait to get back to it !!
