Sharing one last batch of Mayne Island photos.
I can’t say how impressed I am with this magical little island ✨

Here are a few places I visited:

I stayed @mayneislandresort beautifully located on Bennett Bay’s long, sandy, and dog friendly beach. This cute, cozy, and rustic resort is a perfect getaway from the city. There is a lovely restaurant called the Arbutus Grill, a pool and hot tub, and many forest, country road and beach walks close by. It is so quiet around the resort that I slept like a log both nights.

Shavasana Art Gallery and Cafe is full of local works of art, yummy Salt Spring coffee and fresh baked goods. It has a homey atmosphere and a comfy red sofa to sink into and stay awhile.

Miner’s Bay Trading Post is another great place to grab a morning coffee. If you sit on the picnic table out front, you will get in many conversations with locals. I feel like I know all the Mayne Island gossip now ☺️

@farmgatestore is THE place to grab a legendary burrito. I recommend taking it to go to the Lighthouse Park and dining at a picnic table with a view. After you can walk a sweet forest trail to a lovely lookout point to do a little whale watching 🫍

@mi.japanesegarden is a Zen place for a slow, meditative walk. The garden is a beautiful/bittersweet memorial to the Japanese residents who helped shape Mayne before they were forcibly taken from their homes by the government during WW2 💔

There is so much more to see, hike and bike on Mayne, and can’t wait to go back and explore more of this special place 🩵 by @laurel___w

My first day on Mayne Island 🩵
I’ve learned that 1,000 people live here, and so do 3,000 deer 🦌
Nobody locks their doors. And everybody hitchhikes. It’s a pretty special place. by @laurel___w

Checking out @vanartgallery with a longtime friend is a really great way to spend an afternoon. Especially after fuelling up on hot chocolate and tiramisu @thierrychocolat

The gallery is currently exhibiting “Future Geographies: Art in the Century of Climate Change”, a collection of sobering, powerful images. I have captured a few here. The exhibition will be at the Gallery until January 2027 and is so worth a visit.

Also, the amazing (but vertigo inducing) striped entryway will only be at the gallery until October 12th. It is a hypnotizing installation and I totally recommend checking it out! by @laurel___w

Oddfish is one of my fave neighborhood ”occasion” restaurants but today the only occasion was that my neighbour and I really wanted to go to @oddfishrestaurant and soak up this beautiful late summer weather 🩵

Bottega #alcoholfree prosecco is on the menu and the sole piccata in butter sauce is the best thing I have tasted in awhile 😍 by @laurel___w

Had a sweet, country day on Bowen yesterday.
First stop was the beautiful @endswellfarm open house🌻 then onto @artisansquarebowenisland for matcha and a look into the cute shops and cafes. Next was a moment at my favourite perch to take in the beauty of the forest and Howe sound. Final stop was dinner @docmorgans before ferrying home. I couldn’t have hoped for better summer weather to spend the day exploring the island ☀️ by @laurel___w
