Late summer ➡️ almost fall! ☀️🍂

Gavin and Avery had a blast in MN with my parents, siblings, and their cousins 🐟🎣

Fun weekend trips to Wichita with mother runner friends and Lincoln with my sister in law for Gravel Worlds Olympic tri (shocked to finish 3rd overall female after a flare of a cranky hamstring!)

Home from the annual @aanp_news American Association of NPs conference! We had a fabulous week in Vegas- I had the opportunity to lead a musculoskeletal injection workshop and give to podium presentations 😀 Always my favorite professional week of the year to connect and recharge with colleagues 🙌🏻👩🏻‍⚕️ Capped things off with a gorgeous trail run in the Red Rock Conservation area 🏃🏻‍♀️

Friendships that started during marching band (me, Danny, Kate) and Friday Night Lights (Adam played for our SMS Raiders) are such a gift. One of our favorite stories, in 2001 Danny took Kate to prom and I also went with Adam- we all went on to attend 4 different colleges and ended back up in KC and married within a year of each other. Every few months we trade hosting dinner (with the husbands trying to one-up each other in culinary skills) to catch up, and it truly does not feel like this many years have passed.

Kate decided our 25th Prom-iversary deserved a fancy night out 🍷🍸💃🏻 we stopped short of going to our parents’ house for photos 😂 but fully entertained the servers at Stock Hill, especially when Adam and Danny ordered the “Tomahawk steak for two” special 🤌😁 Cheers to another 25 years! by @laurelshort

Tried something new this year- Unbound Gravel! This is the Super Bowl of gravel bike events, and it’s only 90 minutes from KC. The city of Emporia does an amazing job hosting the athletes, and I got the complete full experience with mud (hiked bikes for 1/2 miles), rain, humidity, and a train delay (!)
😆🙌🏻🚴🏻‍♀️

50 mile distance: Came in 15 out of 99 for age group and 42/335 for all women, not bad for my first time!

Had a blast, can’t wait to do it again! 🔥⛈️☀️🤩

Last day of 4th and 7th grade! Gavin and Avery are more than ready to dive into a summer of swim team, friend time, camp, and (as Avery loves to say) “chilling” 🥰🙌🏻🥹☀️💦

This school year sure went fast! Avery had the same teacher Gavin did for 4th grade, and Gavin made the transition to middle school look easy ☺️ Cheers to summertime! by @laurelshort

Dimity’s book gracefully describes the power and meaning running brings us. It tackles how to navigate the grief of losing running - whether from an injury or when the season of life arrives that results in closing the chapter of running. Her stories and tools are excellent for any big life transition ❤️

Life lately- though there is a constant heaviness from the state of our country, I am so thankful for small daily joy with family, friends, and my patients 🫶🏻

Danny recently achieved a milestone in his current work project, Avery completed her first piano recital (SO nervous, then beaming after!), Gavin is embracing been a full-fledged teenager (13 in Jan!), and I am gearing up to set biking and tri goals for the year ☺️ by @laurelshort
