The end of an era. Goodbye to 7 years of memories and your endless views, 16A. 💗

It’s where we weathered a global pandemic, got engaged, got married, and found out we were pregnant. Where we watched fireworks with friends every single Fourth of July with 6 foot sandwiches and so many hot dogs. It’s where I’ve sat quietly with a book in the sunshine, watched countless sunrises, spotted double rainbows after rain showers, felt like a snow globe during blizzards, grown my son inside of my belly, and cried for many weeks about leaving.

On the weekends we’d stroll to Fort Greene park for our favorite farmer’s market in the city, during the week I started and grew @mothersauce.nyc with @sister_psyche from my dining table overlooking the view.

Nick learned and taught others how to DJ on the terrace, we saw the most insane sunsets of my life that convinced me no where else does them better. We received countless garden packages from @thaigator, prepped for every party and made shrimp towers with @melissachang7, hosted @eisayeff for all the sleepovers, got into card and board games with @dvaldes234, totally stressed out the mailroom and doormen with crates from China and huge ULINE deliveries before I figured out warehousing, and where Nick made friends with the bodega guys next door who always gave us a little discount.

In NYC folks rarely own nowadays, mostly renting these spaces to temporarily fill them with friends, family, and memories. But we’ll always feel like 16A is a little bit ours. A slice of the NYC sky that we got to fill with so much love for so long. 🌇 by @laurendurden

After 120 years, NYC’s oldest Italian restaurant closed after Friday night’s service.

On Thursday we had a final farewell dinner and a glass of very good Barolo at Barbetta, one of the first restaurants in the city to introduce patrons to Piedmontese wines, well before the bottles were the list regulars they are now. taken in Barbetta Restaurant by @laurendurden
