WOODSTOCK! SCRAPS screens Thursday, October 15 at 7:30pm as part of the Coming-of-Age block at @woodstockfilmfestival. 🎟️ Tickets at the link in bio.

As part of the #WFF26 Filmmaker Spotlight, @woodstockfilmfestival asked: What filmmaker inspired you to make movies?

There are so many filmmakers I wanna kvell about, but for her influence on SCRAPS specifically, I have to call out @sofiacoppola, whose films were hugely influential on me growing up. They validated my experience of the loneliness and intensity of girlhood, and shaped both my aesthetic and the kinds of stories I want to tell about the inner lives of women.

I’ve also always loved the way she puts music to image—especially her use of anachronistic music to collapse the distance between young women of another time and our own. That sensibility was very much on my mind while making SCRAPS.

I’d love to see you in Woodstock! by @laurenlukow

WOODSTOCK, here we come! honored to bring SCRAPS to the @woodstockfilmfestival this October, screening on October 15th! I’ve always had a soft-spot for the Catskills and can’t wait to experience the revelation of autumn in upstate NY 🍃 🍂 and see a lot of fiercely independent cinema ☮️

In 2023, I was gifted a coach by @shirarock and the Sundance Producers Program (we used to include coaching as part of our Producers Fellowship, and that year they had an extra slot!). If I'm honest, I've always been wary of the word "coach". Everyone in LA calls themselves one, and it's a largely unregulated profession. But my relationship with my ICF (international Coaching Federation) accredited coach, Shayna Weiss (@empwrdcoaching), affected me deeply. So much that after a couple years of research, I pursued my own certification through Brown University's Leadership & Performance Coaching program, and graduated this July (2 weeks before my wedding lol).

Over the past year, I've learned so much about leadership, motivation, belief systems grounded in developmental psychology and neuroscience–and how all these shape our ability to pursue the goals that matter to us (particularly as the only person in my cohort with a background in film/arts... a fascinating and noticeable gap!).

This does NOT mean I'll be posting selfie videos with unsolicited advice. It does NOT mean I'll be starting a Substack, or creating heavily marketed "packages". This also does NOT mean I am abandoning filmmaking - far from it. I just want to offer something that was incredibly valuable to me to other artists and creatives.

So, I'm offering 1 on 1 coaching to my community at a sliding scale (I mean it). If interested, please reach out! If just curious, or skeptical (I don't blame you!!!), that's ok too! B/c in a world moving at an increasingly frantic pace–driven by tech, stimuli, and ~*CoNTenT*~ it's HUMAN to feel lost, overwhelmed, stuck, unsure of what we actually want, where to go to next, what our values are, our purpose, and how to get back to that.

I wholeheartedly believe art & creativity are noble, important, and SACRED. As a producer, my goal is to help filmmakers make the best possible version of their film. And as a coach, my goal is to help creative people (from all disciplines) grow into the best possible version of themselves.

Thx for listening! From me + Julio (not my dog; just his #1 fan). by @laurenlukow

Happy one month of mawwiage! 😎❤️

LOS ANGELES! Come out, come out for the hometown premiere of SCRAPS on August 14 at @hollyshorts!! ✨

There are dreams that live only in your imagination, and then there are the people who make them tangible.
To my extraordinary cast, crew, and incredible producers: thank you for making magic out of whole cloth. You took an abandoned hospital in Pomona and, through ingenuity, artistry, and so much heart, transformed it into the dream world of 1970s Soviet Moldova that had existed only in my mind for years.
