5 days till Sydney Contemporary! In the lead up to the fair we’re profiling the fifteen artists who are part of our exhibition ‘Desert Varnish – Conversations with Fowlers Gap’ - next up is Lauren O’Connor.

Through layered colour, impulsive mark-making and erasure, Lauren O’Connor brings the transient into view, invoking the complexities of memory and representation. Forms in nature are deconstructed and reformed in her paintings giving new interpretations of landscape. With a sense of alchemy, O’Connor conjures form through abstraction, with her radiant use of colour unfolding through loose brushstrokes and intertwining folds of paint. Her work is often infused with an introspective analysis of emotion and human experience, embedding this energy into the landscape where mountains, rivers, gums and the rhythms of nature emerge.

We’ll be at booth C07 at Carriageworks, don’t miss this incredible collection!

Last days to see ‘Summer House’ our dynamic group exhibition celebrating the warmer season. The show concludes this Saturday 31 January, and includes Sydney based artist Lauren O’Connor.

Thanks to @precinct75 Artist In Residence @laurenoconnor_studio for welcoming us into her studio last week, where guests made clay pinch pots to be buried, as offerings to the afterlife.

Her work is often infused with emotion and human experience, embedding this energy into the landscape where mountains, rivers, gums and the rhythms of nature emerge.

@nation.au has been providing artists at Precinct 75 with free studio space to support their practice and fuel new creative works - reinforcing the belief that arts and culture are the backbone of a thriving community. by @laurenoconnor_studio
