Mom,

I did your hair and makeup for the last time and as incredibly hard as it was it was such an honor. When I told you I would do your hair and makeup for your funeral you smiled at me and told me you wanted your hair curly. I never truly believed I would see the day, but I did it mom. The past few days going through pictures I found selfies of every time I did your hair and makeup that I didn’t even know you took. You were always so proud of me and I hope that I always made you feel as beautiful as I saw you were.

I don’t know how to live without you, but I’m going to make you proud everyday. Even on my hardest days I know I’m strong because I’m your daughter. I am the woman I am today, because of you. You made me brave and independent. You showed me how to love so big. You and dad set the perfect example of what marriage should be. You shared your love for the beach and margaritas. You believed in me. You were my best friend and the best mom.

I doesn’t feel real and then it feels all too real all at once. We will take care of each other and we will be okay, but we will miss you everyday.

I love you more than words can express.

This is the first time I’m seeing my work on the cover of a vinyl in person, and this one means so much to me. At the beginning of 2021, I worked on my first music video ever, and I was so anxious because I didn’t know if I was good enough to become a full time makeup artist, especially at that level. That music video gave me the confidence and determination I needed to push myself to make it in this industry. My mom surprised me and bought me @jackharlow’s ‘That’s What They All Say’ vinyl so I could always remember that I can do this. She was so incredibly proud of me, and I think she told everyone humanly possibly on Facebook that I worked with Jack. This year, I bought myself @girlnamedtom’s ‘Dust to Dust’ vinyl as a reminder to keep chasing every dream not only for me, but for my mom. She is the reason I work so hard and the person I want to continue to make proud.

I’m cannot explain to you all how grateful I am feeling, but I’m going to try anyway. Truthfully, I am so hard on myself when it comes to my career. I am so passionate about what I do and the impact that I have the opportunity to make. I have moments where I realize I am doing exactly what I’ve been praying for and dreaming about. The past few years I have traveled based on red carpet events trying to network and book clients. I’d take my makeup kit just hoping someone would book me. I’ve watched almost every live red carpet studying the hair and makeup to learn and see what works and followed the hair and makeup artists that I admire. I moved to Nashville because I wanted to work with more artists and continue growing in my career. Yesterday, I had the pleasure getting Mōriah ready for the ACM Honors red carpet. I left feeling so appreciative. I appreciate everyone who supports me and refers me, the artists that trust me with their hair and makeup, and the fact that I can actively see my hard work paying off. Thank you @holamoriah for letting me glam you and being such an inspiration.
