A humble attempt to bring Tiruppavai to life through melody and movement this Mazhgazhi !🎶🙏✨

Andal / Godha Devi composed the Thiruppavai in a very magnificent, ecstatic manner, filling each pasuram with in-depth spiritual and intellectual knowledge with beautiful descriptions.

The meaning of pasuram 1 ~ Mazhgazhi thingal

On this auspicious Margazhi month’s full moon day like time, oh you, the well ornamented girls, let us (whoever wants to) go to Aayppaadi (Gokulam, the residential village of Krishna)) that is full of virtues and wealth and is the abode of noble people and Lord Krishna Himself, to take the holy bath.
He (Krishna) is the son of King Nandagopan, who holds a sharp spear always to protect his people, and, is (like) the lion-cub of beautiful-eyed Yasodha.
Krishna whose complexion is like dark clouds and whose face is like vibrant Sun and pleasing Moon, that Lord Narayana Himself will grant us the Parai (a musical instrument).
Please see it yourself by chanting this, O my dear friends !!

In our continuous effort to keep and share the treasures of the Guru-Shishya Parampara passed on to us, we at @kalasindhu_academy are deeply grateful to our Guru @poornimagururaja. Thank you aunty for your continuous efforts to make us learn and experience such rare compositions and the richness of our parampara.

Presenting a rare gem - Thillana in Raga Kaanada and Simhanandana Tala, composed by Sri Mahavaidyanatha Iyer.

This beautiful choreography by Guru Sri Thanjavur K. P. Kittappa Pillai is a treasure trove of lineage, carefully preserved and passed on by Guru K. P. K. Chandrasekhar Pillai.

Percussions are pure love!

Damadi is one of the percussion instruments we use in traditional folk theatre and other styles as well.
I have an unending obsession with rhythm and percussion. (Hopefully I will be able to learn how to play one decently) until then I shall take joy in having learnt very few patterns in Damadi (khanjira)

Thank you @leela__krishna teacher for teaching me this and for the video! 😂🤪🥰
Thanks to @naanu_rameshpandithh uncle for constantly encouraging me to play and teach during rehearsals🥰😇

I guess the most beautiful part of this entire trip were the people! 😇🥰

Anticipation of the trip built 2 months ago and then started the rehearsals. A process of 10 individuals dancers coming together, learning new choreographies, coordinating, constantly mentored and guided by Prathibha ma’am and finally able to dance on 3 stages! These people made me forget time and laugh almost the entire day! So many stories shared, meaningful moments exchanged and memorable events created!
I guess the photos are proof of the bond created and shall remain here as a testimony for many years to come!

I cannot thank @prathibhaprahlad and @prasiddha_dance_repertory enough for making me a part of this lifetime memory and unforgettable artistic experience! Indebted 😇🙏🏻

Special mention to @swathi_krishnakumar_ akka my Kalasindhu Sakhi , roommate almost all our trips 🫶🏻, @harshavardhan.k98 @shashanknairdance @sakshi_jagadeesh @aishwaryamanikarnike for the most amount of nonsense fun stuff we did ! I cherish them forever! ♥️

Thank you @rachanakaranik @nidhaga_karunad @yogeshkumarsomanna @snehanarayan_ @pruuthvii @adithya_manikarnike @flute_a_n_raghu_simha @rajeev.r_29 @kavya_kasinathan @dhanush.__.n @mithun271005 @vidyashankar_n for the best company on stage, off stage and during the constant flight travels! It was absolutely a thrill to be around you guys 🫶🏻🙌🏻
