So deeply honored to have the brilliant and kind @ruth.reichl revisit and re-love @lavarany.
Her writing and reviews were the source of much hunger and desire for @alexraij before becoming a Newyorker.
As a younger Seattle cook and #Gourmetmag obsessed child her reviews defined where Alex wanted to live, eat and learn upon arrival.
There is really no higher honor than feeding or satisfying the curiosity, the taste and the soul of this writer and human we have come to admire so profoundly.
Thank you @cultured_mag for asking the question and Ruth for remembering us in that moment! So much about food is context and time. At almost 14 years old @lavarany continues its story to reframe and disrupt what dishes in the #spanish cannon belong the Jewish and Moorish legacy. We have enjoyed the recognition of @michelinguide and @gq @nytimescooking and so many more but this is such a huge endorsement. We do not stand still or stand back of our imaginations or ideas while always aiming to share and bring comfort and joy to neighbors and diners who meet us where we are. This Thursday, June 25th, head to La Vara & Saint Julivert in Brooklyn for a taste of Galicia with Curro Bareño of Fedellos.

Fedellos takes over the by-the-glass list for the night while the kitchen turns out regional Galician specialties. One of Spain's most exciting voices in wine, pouring some of the the most authentic and expressive wines coming from Ribeira Sacra.

We have loved and supported these special wines from the Ribera Sacra wine for years! We will be offering a one night only list of all their wines by the glass. The winemaker will be here to discuss these unique wines and this special winemaking region. Reservations are live!
