🌱 Variety Showcase Spotlight: Rosé Cabbage 🌱

Join us at @glynwoodorg on August 30 as Chef Alex Raij of @txikitonyc & @lavarany creates a dish featuring plant breeder Phillip Griffiths’ stunning unreleased rosé cabbage.

Originally from southeast Wales, “Griff” came to the U.S. in the early 1990s and earned his PhD in vegetable breeding at the University of Florida. Since joining Cornell University in 1999, he has focused on breeding Brassica crops, beans, and tomatoes, developing varieties that are not only productive but novel and delicious.

His work aims to reinvent how we think about vegetables, introducing vibrant new colors and forms that delight growers, chefs and eaters alike.

Among his latest breeding projects are rosé cabbage, golden and Tuscan broccoli, chili pepper-shaped tomatoes, colorful leafy brassicas, and mini kidney beans, with new varieties being trialed and introduced around the world.

Come meet Griff and Alex, learn about the breeding behind this beautiful brassica, and be among the first to taste rosé cabbage at Variety Showcase.
