Finally posting my pop up book! I certainly need to fix this at some point because using glue sticks definitely is not archival 😵‍💫💌

I still live in a state of disbelief that I was chosen for the 2025 Zankel Scholar, yet I am beyond grateful. This year has marked one of the most exciting starts to my career as an illustrator, and every time I have received any good news, the first person I call up is my Mom. I was beyond ecstatic to receive recognition as significant as this one, and more so to win alongside another talented great friend of mine, @impossiblyclever, but more so, it was the emotional rollercoaster of being recognized by such an institution as someone who started my journey at Pratt with such a small amount of resources. I grew up knowing money as a constant struggle, and while my Mom pushed for higher education, we faced many hurdles that made it, at times, feel unreachable. This scholarship marks not only a wonderful recognition and aid, but hopefully a reminder that truly anyone can make it with a dream and passion. While it was at times a frightening leap into college, I have time and time again, through the aid of mentors, friends, and family, been reminded, it's always been the best journey of my life. As always, a huge thank you to all who helped me here. 💌🍂 https://societyillustrators.org/scholarship-winners/rachel-genito/ by @lavender_hag

To say I’m late to the trend is understatement… but a little appreciation as I can’t believe the summer is coming to an end. It’s been months since I graduated now and it’s getting real 🎓
.
It’s been a peroid of ups and downs, seeing my career go places I never even dreamed I could achieve. And to have people I love happy for me means the world. There was some stressful moments (a lot of deadlines, family health scares, and realizing how expensive/exhausting it can get in the city) but happy to see things really can work out. I’ll be posting some exciting stuff soon I promise. Bit a little break from my radio silence :)

Over the moon to recognize my name on this list! 🌙💫
.
Last year was the first time my art made it to another state, and to now have it in another country is so surreal. I’m beyond honored for my work to be selected! Thank you so much @melissanelsongreenberg for sending over the call for submissions. My art will be printed and displayed at the international Ilustrofest exhibition at the Belgrade Fortress.

Thank you to all the judges @ilustrofest for considering my work. 🧡 by @lavender_hag

Whew! It’s taken some time to get settled and now it’s time to get back to work. I still have to buy a chair but…I’m getting there 😅
.
Maybe I’ll do an art book tour if enough interest! I have some more all scattered around my room
