Sero is a new task chair, designed and engineered by LAYER for @AndreuWorld, that brings a lighter, softer expression to high-performance workplace seating. Defined by a fluid, nature-inspired silhouette, the chair pares back the visual and mechanical complexity typically associated with the category. A lightweight perforated backrest creates a distinctive diamond pattern that encourages airflow, while upholstered seat options and softly padded armrests introduce tactility and warmth. Sero continues LAYER and Andreu World’s exploration of more intuitive, adaptable furniture for the contemporary workplace. Discover more → layerdesign.com/sero or link in bio. by @layer_design
Both LAYER and Spanish furniture brand @AndreuWorld are driven by a commitment to environmentally responsible design, an approach exemplified by the new Hula Club chair. Designed in line with circular economy principles, the chair is made from recycled materials and can be easily disassembled and recycled at end of life. This approach reflects a broader idea of longevity: using fewer and better materials, making components replaceable, and creating furniture intended to remain useful and relevant for as long as possible. The new Hula Club, designed by LAYER for @AndreuWorld, extends the sculptural language of LAYER’s Hula collection into a softer, more enveloping form. Designed for dynamic workplace, hospitality and social settings, Hula Club features a deep seat and generous upholstered shell that create a sense of comfort suited to longer periods of sitting. The circular geometry that defines the form of the chair echoes the rounded form of the original Hula stool. Discover more → layerdesign.com/hulaclub/ or link in bio by @layer_design
Designed by @LAYER_design for @AndreuWorld, Hula Club is a compact lounge chair that takes inspiration from the circular geometry and fluid motion of the studio’s original collection of Hula stools. The chair brings a new sense of movement to the familiar club chair typology. A distinctive handle integrated into the chair’s back makes it easy to move, while concealed castors allow it to rotate and be repositioned as conversations and configurations change. MAZZU mattress is designed by @LAYER_design for sleep start-up MAZZU to be repaired rather than be replaced. It rethinks the conventional mattress as a modular, foam-free system built from individual pocket spring units. Available in three tensions, the modules can be configured around different sleeping positions and even customised independently on each side of the bed. The components can also be cleaned, repaired or replaced as needed. In recognition of its innovative design, MAZZU Mattress was awarded a @RedDotDesignAward: Best of the Best and @iFdesign Award. Seams, designed by @LAYER_design for @Bitossi_Ceramiche, turns traces of the manufacturing process into the defining feature of the object. The collection of five ceramic vessels explores how industrial production can create individual character rather than uniformity. During slip casting, each mould is deliberately split several times to introduce additional seam lines across the surface. Instead of being removed during finishing, these ridges are left visible exactly as they emerge from the kiln. The mould components can be rotated into different positions for each casting, varying the placement of the seams so that no two pieces are identical. Pod, designed by @LAYER_design for DeVorm, turns a chair into a pocket of privacy. Its high-backed shell is made from recycled plastic bottles and wraps around the sitter to reduce visual distraction. The pressed PET felt material also absorbs surrounding sound and creates a sense of separation from the activity around it. The shell sits in a steam-bent ash frame and is topped with a Kvadrat-upholstered cushion to create a softer, more protective spatial experience. Designed by @LAYER_design as an internal studio research project, Ripple explores how far material efficiency can be pushed without compromising strength or scale. At 2.5 metres long but weighing just 9kg, the table uses 70–80% less material than a conventional timber table. Its exceptional strength-to-weight ratio is achieved through an innovative process of corrugating ultra-thin plywood through pressure lamination to create structural rigidity with a table edge of just 3.5mm thick. The innovative construction of Ripple was recognised by London’s Design Museum in their Designs of the Year exhibition. Discover more → layerdesign.com/ripple or link in bio. by @layer_design
Designed by @LAYER_design with @SharkBeauty, FlexFusion is a 5-in-1 modular hair styling system that brings multiple tools together in one sculptural, intuitive product. A ceramic straightener, hot brush, auto-wrap curlers, concentrator and diffuser can be swapped through a simple plug-and-play connection, allowing the system to move easily between straightening, smoothing, curling and defining texture. FlexFusion forms part of a wider design language developed by LAYER with Shark Beauty to elevate everyday styling rituals through more intuitive, human-centred design.
