See it in full @humberstreetgallery in the exhibition 'Though the leaves are many' in Hull until January. It's made using Tetra pack prints digitised and projected onto the wall. This clip is inspired by the allotments at the Octagon Centre in Hull as part of @hu3cometotea. Hope you like it.

Take more chances, dance more dances!

This is Zoe , she's the product of my time at West Yorkshire Print Workshop. Shes actually a little aquatint zoetrope and she dances on you record player 😊😊 I'll be sharing the process I worked through here this week. Thank you WYPW for the opportunity, I loved it!

I am so excited to be part of this exhibition alongside two absolutely brilliant printmakers @rozimation and @emmajackson.art . It's an exploration of where printmaking can go when combined with the photograph, moving image and augmented reality as part of University of Huddersfield's Cultures of Film programme in conjunction with @wypw and is on until the 14th of November.

Some behind the scenes shots of our latest exhibition in collaboration with @culturesof_

Beyond the Frame: Printmaking in Dialogue with Film, will be opening this Friday 9th October at the Bath House Gallery, Sovereign Design House

We are delighted to be collaborating with @culturesof_ Film and artists Rozi Fuller, Layla Jabbari and Emma Jackson.

The exhibition explores what happens when printmaking meets film, photography and the moving image.

This is a great opportunity to see a selection of work by three artists who are rethinking what printmaking can do.

Blending risograph, Tetrapak and monoprinting with film, animation and Augmented Reality, these artists move fluidly between processes and media to explore new ways of making and presenting printed and moving images.

This exhibition has been produced by West Yorkshire Print Workshop ( @wypw )as part of the University of Huddersfield’s Cultures of Film programme.

A History of Printmaking continues this Friday and Saturday at Eastgate Studio Gallery, 11am to 4pm.

We are grateful to Layla Jabbari for her contribution to the exhibition with “A Stitch in Time” lithograph and “Scene But Not Heard” intaglio and solarplate etching. Layla has also loaned the plates for display.

In the 1970s, 80s and 90s a vibrant drag scene thrived in the HU3/Docklands area of Hull. Performers, musicians, pub and club owners created unforgettable nights. Behind the scenes, photographers and audiences quietly captured it all.

Photographs along with oral histories have been gathered and recorded to form an archive of the local drag and LGBTQIA+ heritage of the area. The project Scene But Not Heard is a work in progress as stories continue to be collected and shared.

As part of the project local artists have been given the opportunity to create a response to the archive.

Layla’s print was made using a photograph by Alex Simpson and it is of the Dreamgirls, an act in the 1980s that continued to perform up until 2025.

The process uses photopolymer plates. A metal plate coated with a light sensitive film which is exposed to light through a negative image and an aquatint film. This is a form of intaglio printmaking.

The original photograph is a beautiful image. Layla hoped to add colour and depth to the image through this process and the use of highly pigmented inks to add a richness to the final print.

The work is made possible through funding from The National Heritage Lottery, Humber Museums Partnership and Historic Museums England and is done in conjunction with Three Ways East.

And just like that... 3 weeks of our exhibition at Eastgate Studio is over... A big thanks to @susanleesonprint for the fab opportunity, Layla for being my partner in crime and fabulous printmaker, @glendickson1 for being our official photographer and helping installing our work. But thank you to everyone that went to see it and buy some. It's always such a nice feeling when a print goes off to a new home... 😘.
