During his time in Palestine, Simeon immersed himself in the rich history, vibrant culture, and resilient spirit of the Palestinian people through a grassroots organisation, @Laylac_center, at Dheisheh refugee camp, located just south of Bethlehem in the Occupied West Bank. While there, he formed bonds with the local youth by cooking, playing music, and working together on workshops and reports. However, his experience also included confronting the stark reality of life under occupation.

Despite being located in Area A, which is under full Palestinian control, the Dheisheh refugee camp is subjected to near-daily pre-dawn Israeli military raids, killings, arbitrary arrests, and destruction of homes and infrastructure. The situation has significantly worsened since October.
