We’re headed on an adventure through stories and nature! 🏺🌱 This week campers explore World Mythology, discovering legendary figures, mythical creatures, and folktales from cultures around the world. 🌎 In our science camps, we’ll take a closer look a marsh birds with Emmy from @wildlifenj. Through hands-on activities and outdoor exploration, campers will learn all about the incredible wildlife that calls our local marsh home. 🐟🐢🦆 There’s still time to join us for more summer adventures! Week 3 is a wrap here at LBIF Summer Camp— and what a wild one it was! 🎨🫟🐾🐢🦀🐟 This week, our campers turned into storytellers, historians, and junior conservationists. We traveled back in time, exploring how animals have been used to keep records and tell stories for centuries, then swooped into osprey territory, learning all about their habitats and the real challenges these incredible birds face today. Our 22-acre outdoor playground was buzzing with curiosity, creativity, and conversation all week long! And to tie it all together? We got hands-on (literally) with Gyotaku, the traditional Japanese art of fish printing, proving once again that art and science make the best kind of magic when they team up! A whole new week of camp means a whole new week of fun! Take a sneak peak at what our campers are doing this week… 🌿➡️ We’re taking a closer look at Ospreys with @wildlifenj 🪶 Not in camp? You can still catch Conserve Wildlife at our 20th Annual Barnegat Bay Day this Wednesday, July 8 from 12:30pm – 3:30pm. This year, the FREE EVENT will feature 10+ environmental organizations, all here to educate on the importance of our coastal ecosystems and what we can do to protect them! There will also be science-based crafts and activities for the whole family, including a touch-table experience from the @centerforaquaticsciences — where you can meet a sea star and a horseshoe crab! * Preregistration is required (link in bio) 🔗 Over in our art camps, our theme this week is Wild World Kingdom, where campers explore how animals are celebrated and portrayed across different cultures through a variety of mediums and techniques. 🎨🐾 And the fun doesn’t stop there! LBIF Camp is always a great adventure! It’s a place for play, discovery, disconnecting from our devices, and connecting with one another. This week, old friends reunited once more and new friends joined our camp family. Whether on the marsh, in the studios or on the court, that feeling of summer home set in. Terrapins stole the spotlight as this week’s featured campers! 🐢 Biologist Ben Wurst, Sean, and Sarah from @conservewildlife_nj brought the world of terrapins to life, giving campers an up-close look at these incredible creatures and the important work being done to protect them. Over in the art studios, creativity was in full swing as visiting artist Anna Krain, alongside our instructors, guided campers in exploring the language of symbols. The studios buzzed with imagination as colorful creations came to life. 🎨🌀 Campers capped the week with a spirited performance of Zootopia, directed by Kathy Renna, and headed back out to the tennis courts and AfterCamp! 🎭 🎾 🛝 This is just the start— there’s so much more fun to be had in the next coming weeks!
