Happy weekend, my lovely bookish friends! I'm working tomorrow, but I love Friday evenings, particularly in the fall... It's more peaceful, somehow... 🫶

It's just my theme at the moment. I still managed about 300 words today, but no pressure 😋. I'm taking it slow. by @lcdamianwrites

Lately I have been a bit absent from writer life because I burnt out a bit.

I tried to deny it at first, because writing is the most enjoyable activity I had in the last 3 months, but the pressure I have put on myself to finish my first draft, to be present and post regularly on IG has gotten to me.

All the times I have said to myself the first draft needs to tell the story, it can be messy, I can add more to scenes later, I kept sitting on a particular chapter until it was what I wanted. And eventually, I got stuck.

But I worked a little on my mindset, I think I am closer to getting out of this slump. One step at a time.

So hopefully, I'll get back on track to finish my first draft.

Fear and excitement produce the same physiological response: high heart rate and butterflies in your belly. The only difference is how the brain labels the event 😉

Sometimes you need someone to ground you, to tell you to stop messing around and do what you need to do 😉

I have had a few slower days lately, I feel a bit burnt out, with work, writing, and all administrative tasks. The fact that it's getting darker outside, really doesn't help.

So I try to get my motivation from little things like this, when the inspiration eludes me.

I was not a big coffee drinker until I started work in my late 20s (during my 6 years of university I only drank coffee during exam periods or socially when I had a free period).

I never understood the fascination with it until I got hooked. Now I need 3 coffees a day, the strong kind, just to make it until bed time. 🙈

Telling your kid "don't eat candy or your teeth will rot" rarely works. But explaining the biological battle in their mouth might change everything!

When we eat sugar, bacteria in the mouth feed on it and produce acids that eat away the enamel (the hard, protective coating on our teeth). That’s when saliva steps in like an actual hero, washing away acis and bringing back essential minerals like calcium to rebuild the enamel shield.

When kids understand that saliva and toothpaste (toothbrush included) are their armor, brushing stops being a daily argument and becomes a mission.

Ilse learns all this and much, much more through her adventures.
