Small solo exhibition this Sunday 27th at @shinaikan.air_gallery to present my work over the last month. I’ve so enjoyed immersing in beautiful Teshima, meeting the people, exploring the villages and walking through coastal jungles. It has truly touched my heart. Thank you @usaginingen for having me !

_Liminal Zones_ is a body of work documenting points of contact between humans and their natural surroundings on Teshima. After learning both of the island’s natural beauty and complex history with human habitation, I wished to observe how people are physically placed in this landscape. I spent a month slowly exploring the island, finding where human and nature quietly come together. The result is a series of work and artbooks, incorporating drawing, painting, and monoprint, showing the physical signs of humans belonging to a place. by @leaflovinart

I’m so thrilled to be a part of @baldessinstudio 25th Anniversary Print Collection! Alongside the beautiful work of 52 other artists.

The collection is available now online and on display at @sydneycontemporary Sept 3-6. Exhibition at @australiangalleries Nov 10-28

My print depicts a lyrebird’s nest that I witnessed on Wurundjeri Country, Kinglake. I had heard how rare it is to see one. I stood in the creek and gazed into the soft centre. An entrancing structure, built at the edge of a creek from leaves and sticks, framed with fishbone ferns. I created a detailed drawing of the scene which informed my plate. The fine details and soft textures of the nest are captured with soft and hard ground etching. I was fortunate to learn these techniques through my Jane Fitzherbert Memorial Residency at Baldessin Studio this year. by @leaflovinart

Some leaves I’ve encountered this year… in bushland, by the road, in my backyard, and left on my desk by my housemate.

My prints and some progress shots from the soft ground multi-plate etching workshop I took part in at @baldessinstudio under the brilliant guidance of Chris Ingham.

I really fell in love with the softness you can achieve with this printing medium and the endless possibilities of colour layering with the multi plates. A few also include some chine-collé. Excited to experiment more with this and learn hard ground next ! by @leaflovinart
