I live in devotion to expanding women’s range.
Somatics x science x spirit x the weird, wild & wonderful.

Survival to Sovereignty

I’m not interested in fixing women.
I’m interested in expanding what they can hold.

Because most lives don’t feel small due to lack of effort, insight, or intelligence –
they feel small because the nervous system learned to contract in order to survive.

This work isn’t about becoming someone new.
It’s about reclaiming the range that was lost when safety was conditional.

Sovereignty doesn’t arrive through force or performance.
It arrives when the body no longer needs to brace against life.

This is the terrain I’m walking.
And if your system recognises it, you’ll know why you’re here.

I don’t think the village just ‘disappeared’.

I think we normalised its absence.

We stopped being horrified by mothers doing the work of 10 people.

We started expecting it.

Then admiring it.

We rebranded it as strength.

We called it resilience.

We celebrated the ‘Supermums’.

We sold impossible expectations as empowerment…

…instead of recognising them for what they actually are:

Completely unsustainable.

No civilisation can outsource the work of a village to exhausted mothers forever without paying for it in the generations that follow. by @leahaligned

The internet has convinced us we’re all running the same race. We’re not.

Most of us are far quicker to compare outcomes than we are to compare resources, support, capacity, responsibilities, history, privilege, health, finances, childcare, nervous system load, and the thousand invisible variables that shape a life.

Run your own race.

The people who inspire me most aren’t the ones moving the fastest.

They’re the ones carrying the most and still refusing to quit ❤️‍🔥 by @leahaligned

Obviously not here to share all my criminal activities. You’ll just have to take my word for what a bad b!tch I am, despite looking like I definitely return my shopping trolley… by @leahaligned

Story time from the fireside…

Six months ago I would have buried this story in my drafts, because I was terrified of how I might be perceived - too weird, too much, too Leah…

Some of my most meaningful experiences never get shared because they’re difficult to explain - they’re reallllly fucking strange. Symbolic. Nonsensical. Mystical. Messy. Profound.

Sometimes they’re moments that set my soul on fire and refuse to leave me alone.

Which brings me to what happened around a bonfire last night… by @leahaligned

Sitting in the sauna, voluntarily pushing against the edges of my comfort, I had a thought…

Nobody looks at a muscle and says the healthiest one is the one that never contracts.

One thing you’ll quickly learn about me is that I’m deeply suspicious of any framework that takes something useful and turns it into a moral virtue.

Including this one.

I’ll let the reel explain.

In your window… or defenestrated?

(Defenestrated = thrown out the window.
Dramatic, but not entirely inaccurate some days.)

The window of tolerance is the range where your nervous system is regulated enough for you to actually have access to choice.

Not perfectly calm. Not your “best self”.
Just enough stability for your brain to come back online.

Outside of that window, you don’t need more discipline.
You have reduced access to:
	•	flexible thinking
	•	emotional regulation
	•	intentional behaviour

So the work isn’t “try harder”.

It’s learning how to recognise your state
and shift it - even slightly - before you act.

That’s what expands capacity over time.

That’s how you make choices that align with your values.
—

Also yes, the images are AI-generated.

Because coordinating a full photoshoot as a solo mum to capture “dysregulation but make it cohesive” would have absolutely defenestrated me 😅

Efficiency is a nervous system strategy too. by @leahaligned

You can’t shift what’s holding you back if you can’t see it.

This is from a practice session while I’m training in Root Cause Therapy - actually doing the work on myself, not just learning to facilitate it.

We tested different beliefs using body-based responses - forward = internal “yes”, backward = resistance.

Some of the results surprised me, because consciously I would have told you a completely different story.

That’s the part we don’t always see. You can want something, say you’re ready, even believe you’ve done the work… and still have a quieter layer underneath running the show. That’s where a lot of the limitation lives.

This process is one way of accessing that.

There are a couple of concepts that help make sense of it. The Ideomotor Effect describes how the body can produce subtle movements in response to thoughts and internal states without conscious awareness. Embodied Cognition speaks to how beliefs aren’t just thoughts - they’re reflected in the body, in tension, posture, and movement patterns.

So this isn’t about your body revealing absolute “truth”. It’s about noticing when your internal response doesn’t match who you think you are. That gap is often where the constraint is.

Not everything you call “who I am” is actually helping you.

But once you can see it, you can start working with it - not just understanding it, but actually shifting it.
