POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I recently took part in an exhibition at Glendurgan Gardens National Trust.

It's SO lovely to take part and so inspiring to see what other artists made for Artist Day!

It's on until the 3rd of November! Last weekend to see it :)))

On a personal note.

Despite all of this loveliness, I've struggled to tell people about it because I struggle to promote or to be proud of myself. I grew up with a lot of, "Who do you think you are, Leah?"

But I am HERE saying, I made a thing and it's in a room that's isn't mine ha ha! 😂🫠🖌🎨.

And can I say a massive thank you to the National Trust team at Glendurgan, who have been wonderfully wonderful! And SO welcoming and kind!

To more exhibitions and self-promotion 🎨😂👍.

The crow series so far :)

The second one down on the first image is already sold, which is so cooool, I'm not even going to play that down! I was so touched.

I'm not sure which one I can submit to the exhibition maybe one maybe all who knows.

I'm having too much fun painting them regardless ❤️✨️.

I'm working on my next one but I'm painting it at the nightime golden hour. So it's not as loose because it's being painted over a few evenings after work but I'm enjoying how it's coming along :)

Thank you guys for all your support as always.

And then a deer appeared and Leah said loudly "oh my gawd a deer .....oh, it's gone." 🫠😎

I'm so glad that the deer turned up it clearly knew that I was struggling compostionally and perfectly placed itself.

Such a human ego 😆.

What a wonderful moment though. And on the right handside the bigger crow, the closest one. Flew over to me and was actually circling me for quite a while and reporting back to the crows that I could only hear and not see 😅.

This was a particularity hot day and really quiet. Even the crows were like you should of stayed in bed Leah, even we are too tired for your painting shenanigans 😆.

I wish I took a photo of what this painting looked like at the beginning 😅. I am so glad that I carried on. It took longer and it's not as loose as my other pieces but it's now one of my favourites.

I forgot to mention but I try to only paint the crows I see.

So alot of the time I'm waiting for when the crows would fly from one tree to another to the point that I know their favourite trees, and I keep getting videos on instagram teaching me on how to befriend crows. 😄.

This is the view from over looking fields towards Falmouth castle. I could see a cruise ship too, it looked bigger than the town.

The quote that ran around my head when looking at this painting was I'd rather be a crow.

So maybe that could be the title. Although crows scavenge and eat dead things... so......

I just want to live in a tree and fly around and paint as my side hustle, is that so much to ask 😅😄.

I'm thinking of calling this one "Potatos for Tea."

I'm finally getting around to posting my paintings from a few weeks ago.

So lovely to have a week off to just paint. I painted five paintings in total. I felt so free to be me and paint :).

I've been asked to create work for a collaboration exhibition about crows for the Poly in October. And I've been wanting to paint them in this field for the longest time.

Whenever I drive past them, they fly up and across the field but still next to my car window and it feels like I'm a part of their group for a moment.

But on this particular day they were eating together at the potato field. Hence Potatos for Tea :)
