I participated in the fifth volume of the parts:whole anthology this year, themed bite! parts:whole is a creative project where writers are prompted by a specific part of a larger whole to create a collaborative anthology.

It’s been a long time since I’ve worked on a creative piece… and especially during a time of turbulent transition… Big thank you to Leslie for including me and helping me bring this piece to life. :,0

To borrow Leslie’s words: “this piece [The Death of a Pondering Tongue] ruminates on the changes a tongue endures during orthodontic treatment, wandering into philosophical treatise on flavor and process.”

🕯️Join me and Ada this fall to prepare your own digital legacy in 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔇𝔦𝔤𝔦𝔱𝔞𝔩 𝔚𝔦𝔩𝔩: 𝔐𝔞𝔨𝔦𝔫𝔤, 𝔖𝔬𝔯𝔱𝔦𝔫𝔤, 𝔞𝔫𝔡 𝔐𝔢𝔪𝔬𝔯𝔦𝔞𝔩𝔦𝔷𝔦𝔫𝔤 𝔒𝔲𝔯 𝔇𝔞𝔱𝔞

💿 𝔗𝔥𝔢 𝔇𝔦𝔤𝔦𝔱𝔞𝔩 𝔚𝔦𝔩𝔩 examines how we navigate the personal and collective dimensions of digital death — from inherited archives to potshumous platform presence. Students will explore questions of data ownership, deletion, and the treatment of intimate digital records through contemporary death customs and critical methodologies. Drawing from art, tools, and alternative practices, we will sift through our own data to craft a digital estate and define the legacy we want to leave behind.

I have been thinking a lot about modern pursuit of precision in craft via digital tools and the current nature of creative collaborations with algorithms. So when I came across “Digital Tools” by @slanted.magazine @slanted_publishers , I was delighted and compelled to make this video.

You can find the full appendix of listed tools at the very end of the book. Also check out stonetoolsmuseum.com !!! 🗿They archive 3D models of stone artifacts ranging from the Early Pleistocene Age to modern times and I had a lot of fun playing with their models when making this video.

The event fundraised for the Immigration Institute of Bay Area ((IIBA), the largest nonprofit provider of legal services in Northern California.

🕯️Would you offer an AI model to your ancestors?🕯️

𝔇𝔦𝔤𝔦𝔱𝔞𝔩 𝔙𝔞𝔩𝔲𝔢 𝔒𝔣𝔣𝔢𝔯𝔦𝔫𝔤𝔰 is an interactive AR altar inspired by various East Asian ancestral offering practices. Could contemporary values in the digital space be translated as currencies of value for modern offerings? Today’s notion of convenience, comfort, and luxury are heavily intertwined with technology: generating prompts on Al, ordering food through apps, and studying viral reel formulas. The ornate altar set as a formal ritual serves to juxtapose the absurd elements of value naming and signaling in today’s digital world prescribed by efficient consumption and capitalism. The sentimentals of tradition do not suffice with cut fruits, photos, and memories, but now hinge on immediate satisfaction to click, consume, and cash out.
