Work smarter, not harder 👌🏼

It’s all about the layers, baby! Work from the back forward, cleaning as you go 🖤

I use 2” brushes with wider strokes and more coverage to begin, then add the details towards the end.

It all comes together like 🤌🏼

Stay with me on this one📱

Save or send this to an artist for later ➡️

When you have a wall that angles, or maybe the floor is uneven, or your projector is simply not aligning — use the DISTORT TOOL on Procreate via your iPad.

I never adjust the projector but rather adjust my screen for the wall. It was no different on the angled wall here. The angle distorted my text and bent its reflection up on the wall, so I needed to fix it.

A quick outline using the cursor tool, then click of “distort” and dragging my newly selected corners to where they need to go, and boom — it now makes sense up on the wall. Don’t look at the iPad, look at the wall.

It’s a quick fix every time. Nothing glamorous (including my appearance) but hey, it works.

People want to be invited to a party 🎉 BE THE PARTY.

That goes for media outlets, too. When you’re finishing a wall, working on a collaboration, or telling a story with your art — let them know.

What’s the worst they can say? No? Ever heard of a “slow news day”? Sometimes you’re exactly what they need for a “good feeling” story!

Build relationships with reporters, writers and connectors in your city. Be loud on social media and often they’ll come to you!

But you have to put in the effort. Track down emails, send press releases, plan ahead for publications….or if you’re stressed for time, hire talent (a PR freelancer or agency) that can help you — @nishaj24 of @npatelcommunications is a friend and great resource.

Good photos are also a bonus. I’ve been in several publications because I was an “easy” story. I answered questions via email and sent back clear, professional, high res pics for the spreads (and covers!) — thank you @cmaphoto 📸 — so make their job easier and they’ll come back for more!

Keep grinding! 💪🏻

Folder everything 📁

Here’s what I record and save:
• pouring paint
• real-time (slow) painting strokes
• timelapse (fast) clips
• packing/unpacking my work station
• me talking to camera
• dancing clips
• walks in front of finished walls
• in-progress pics
• completed art pics (sign and without me) — vertical and horizontal

To name a few…

You can never capture too much. When it comes to video keep the clips short so it’s less editing time later. I like my clips to be 1 second or less when I edit them together.

I use CapCut and the IG Editor.
Consistency is key.

Batch your content if you need to. Put one day aside designated to making content and you’ll have it for the week, maybe two!

A habit will start to form and I promise good things will come to your business. Good energy out, is good energy in 🫶🏼

What’s your take on quantity vs. quality?

If you’re a beginner or looking to grow — I’m gonna tell you quantity. Like most things, to get better you’ve got to put in the reps.

That means it could look ugly, feel slow and take time to begin with. But once you set up a system and do it consistently, you’ll find a rhythm, start to see results and you’ll begin to enjoy it.

I batch content. I record a lot at once and pick days to edit multiple reels. And I love to use folders inside my photos app so I can recall jobs quickly. This is also helpful if you want to outsource content creation.

Buy a tripod. Use the Timelapse feature on your phone. You don’t need to capture long form video, just small clips, then you can drop them in and edit quickly. One second or less is how I like to do each clip. Use recommended song choices in the editor. Write yourself a good caption to connect to your audience. And narrate your story when you can.

Gone are the days of making everything look perfect. Authenticity is valued more than ever. So don’t worry about it being super clean, just show your point of view.

And START!

Tuesday brought 10 solid questions, 4 pages and your girls face on the cover of @dine.greenville’s Summer issue.

Find a copy, go online, or zoom in to read about:
• how 1 trip to NYC changed my entire career
• how being a YES girl still has room for NO
• how the #laceydoesworldtour started and why it wasn’t cringe
• why hating sales makes you the ultimate salesman
• how to find your WHY and build a life resume
• how I’ve never made a piece of artwork that wasn’t already sold — commissioned based life!
• how you can turn a small following into big$$
• the origin of my 2 tiny tattoos that have heaps of meaning
• my goals for the future

Open book here (or in this case, magazine). Always.

Big thanks to Jade Cahoon, Writer and Editor-in-Chief, for reaching out and hand delivering copies. You’re a gem!

Do you want to work faster, while still having a solid output? You need to start investing in tools that make your life easier.

This #Bosch laser level is a game-changer for stripes, lettering, or anytime you need to make sure your work is precise. It’s self-leveling so you literally can’t mess it up. The further you pull it away from the wall, the higher the reach of the laser (different sizes available).

Mine can reach 65ft for $165. There are smaller scales for about $100 available. Pays for itself on one job. Saves you a lot of headaches.

Get the green laser, not the red. Trust me.

Ladies, this is also a dream for hanging things at home! Save for later 🫶🏼

You can file HARD HAT under “things I never thought I’d personally own”, but here we are, and honestly I love mine.

With the right fit, the hat, glasses and vest really don’t get in the way. I’ve been required to wear PPE (personal protective equipment) at least 10 times on a job site due to hazardous construction areas.

Be prepared — you’ll want your own, not the leftovers they offer you…. I’ve listed all my go-to’s on my Amazon List linked in my bio.

DIY — but make it EASY 🖤

I promise you can’t mess this up and if you do, it’s just paint. You can paint over it. This room took me a few hours, some patience and $10.

What you’ll need:
• a half inch paint brush,
• a sample size Behr screw top of your favorite color
• a circle to trace on a piece of paper (I used a plate)

Share this with a friend who would actually help you do this, this weekend…then tag me in your pics! I’d love to see what you make.
