The real question is consistency.

If allegations against the Election Commission, “vote chori,” or political parties can be treated as established facts without a court verdict, why demand a court verdict before accepting allegations against Umar Khalid or Sharjeel Imam?

And if allegations of caste discrimination at IIT Bombay can be accepted before the investigation is complete, why should the same standard not apply elsewhere?

You can have political beliefs. But the standard of evidence should not change depending on whose side you’re on.

Madhya Pradesh is facing a major debate over reservation.

The issue is the implementation of 27% reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBCs). In 2019, the OBC quota in MP was increased from 14% to 27%, but its implementation has remained under legal challenge.

If the 27% OBC quota is implemented along with 16% reservation for SCs, 20% for STs and 10% EWS reservation, the total reservation would reach 73%.

In August 2025, MP Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called an all-party meeting on the issue. BJP, Congress and other political parties supported the 27% OBC reservation and adopted a common resolution to present a united position in the legal case.

The matter later returned to the Madhya Pradesh High Court after the Supreme Court directed that the constitutional and legal issues be considered there. In August 2026, final arguments before the High Court were completed and the judgment was reserved.

The issue is still important because it affects government recruitment and candidates waiting for appointments. Under the existing 87:13 arrangement, 13% of posts connected to the disputed increase in OBC reservation have been kept pending in several recruitments.

So, “73% reservation” refers to the possible total reservation if the 27% OBC quota is implemented — it is not a separate new 73% quota for one community.
