Thank you so much @artotellondonbattersea for inviting to be your artist in residence for October and November. So lovely to have such a spacious studio! Special thank you to Anna Dros and @slice.of.alicelife for organising everything and looking after me so well. 🩷 I’m looking forward to working in this beautiful space.
Address: 1 Electric Boulevard, London SW11 8BJ

There’s a large window into my studio, so you’re welcome to pop into the hotel at any time (literally) to have a peek. This hotel is 5-star in service but is chilled and friendly in its vibe, so don’t be shy. As you walk in, go up to the reception desk. My studio is through the door on the left.

Yassss!

Come for a studio visit and stay for a rooftop drink with insane views of London. 🍸

Am I a little crazy for starting a two month artist residency at the same time as preparing for my first solo booth art fair debut with @fairplayartfair? Yes, is the answer 😂 but when an opportunity presents itself you say ‘please and thank you’ and work out the details later on. 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 by @learosekara_art

Thank you so much @fairplayartfair for an amazing debut as a solo booth artist at my very first art fair! What an intense four days, filled with so many new faces, conversations and connections.

A special thank you to all my wonderful VIP guests who made time to attend the fair and visit my booth during arguably one of the art world’s busiest weeks. I’m so grateful for all your encouragement and support. 🩷🩷🩷
A huge thank you to @ryan.stanier, Simon, Oli, Kate, Daisy and the whole team - as well as the amazing bodyguards who brought me hot water every day so I could drink my soup and rest my voice between visitors! 🥹🫶🏻

The response to my work was so heartwarming, from people telling me they’d “never seen anything like this before” to hearing, “This is my favourite piece in the entire fair!” It was incredibly special to hear such lovely responses to my work.

Although the physical fair may be over, you can still head over to the Fair Play website to browse the available works. 🫶🏻 Link in bio.

We had a sold out PV with over 3,000 attendees! Wowza. 🤩

My big spiky baby ‘Eternal Sacrifice’ was the most photographed sculpture in my booth at the PV! She soon got snapped up and is now living her best life in a private collection.

I don’t know how many conversations I had at the fair, but it must have been well into the four hundred mark. I also ended up running out of all of my business cards (i allocated about 500) at the end of my second day at the fair. 🫨🫠 Madness!

‘Original Vibrations’ the most photographed sculpture in my booth throughout the duration of the entire fair! So many people loved her, and yes so many needed to measure their walls to make sure she could fit 🤭. She’s available and ready to yours via the @fairplayartfair website.

Ohhh la la. The bar looks sexy. I of course was busy manning my booth so didn’t get to experience the fair - but the pics look great. Shout out to my friends for sharing them with me. x

Off for a complimentary wrapping and ready for her new home.

My second and last spiky work ‘Within’, was also snapped up and gone.

An unexpected feature in @theartnewspaper.official’s review of @fairplayartfair look. Th by @learosekara_art

Thank you @firstsitecolchester for longlisting my first grey wool sculpture ‘Eidos’ for The Artist Prize! ‘Eidos’ was an intense piece to make, pushing me to develop my sculpting technique and taking 3 months to complete. I love him so much and I am pleased that he’s getting the recognition that he deserves in the Sculpture/Installation category. 🥹🩷

Thank you to all of the judges who had to look over thousands of applications and choose to longlist ‘Eidos’ for the prize. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼 for the next stage of the judging.

I originally planned to exhibit and sell ‘Eidos’ at my upcoming art fair @fairplayartfair (happening 15th - 18th October at One Marleybone - ticket link in my bio). Needless to say, plans have changed and I’ll be taking his sister ‘Initiation’ in his place instead - so you can still acquire a large grey wool work from me at the fair. 🫶🏻

Original Vibrations, resin and wool dyed with tulips, chrysanthemums and carnations on wood, 110 x 112 x 15cm, 2026.

Exhibited at my first solo booth @fairplayartfair during Frieze week and now available for acquisition via the @fairplayartfair website! Link in bio.

Artwork Inspiration:
Original Vibrations wall sculpture was inspired by my trips across the Lake and the Peak District in the UK, where I visited several stone sites and felt the energy that they gave off - one of ecstasy, almost on a cellular level. Some alternative archaeologists theorise that the variations in underground magnetism and the positioning of each rock site on laylines enhance the invisible energetic path that evokes feelings and sensations in the visitors. These Neolithic stone circles were often used by druids, pagans, and wise women (societally labelled as witches) who performed rituals and blessings and shared knowledge. Perhaps by tapping into this energy, we can better connect with both our ancestral past and collective consciousness.

For size comparison with a standard UK house door! This wall sculpture is larger, but can comfortably live in your home. My large sculptures are most popular and Original Vibrations is one of two large pieces left in my whole portfolio. So if you’re looking for a statement piece, let me know. 🩷 by @learosekara_art

It’s been absolutely crazy these couple of days, I reckon I’ve spoken to about 100 people per day… so far!

I’ll be at my booth 56 the whole day today (Sunday) until closing time 6pm. This is your last chance to grab some wool sculpture beauties and add them to your collection. @fairplayartfair offers complimentary packing and covers VAT on all artworks bought, to make your buying experience extra smooth. 🩷

Tickets can be bought at the door or online (link in my bio). See you later on today everyone. 😘 by @learosekara_art

The first two days @fairplayartfair have been amazing! I’m looking forward to welcoming you my booth: 56. Upon entering the art fair, you will see a staircase on the left-hand side, going up to the first floor. Go up the stairs, and I’ll be the first booth on your left: Booth 56.

I sold out of my spiky sculptures at the PV! I know a few people were disappointed to miss out on being able to see and come back for ‘Eternal Sacrifice’ sculpture yesterday. But this is a ‘buy and take away on the day’ fair @fairplayartfair . My availability of artworks is rotating! If you love a piece, I would recommend getting it on the day, as its availability is not promised tomorrow. 🩷

Once you acquire a piece, an expert packing service at the fair will complimentary wrap it for you to take your new wool sculpture baby home!

All artworks come with an easy metal bar that you can attach to your wall with 4 screws. And slide the artwork onto it. It’s a five minute install. 💪🏼🩷 by @learosekara_art

Ritual, wood, hard foam, resin, wool and handmade flower pigments: roses and chrysanthemums, 40 x 40 x 18 cm, 2025.

‘Ritual’ has been selected for the @ingramcollectionuk 2025! Come and see my first spikey wool sculpture @unit1galleryworkshop on the 26th November from 6pm - 8pm.

‘Ritual’ exemplifies my exploration of biology, archaeology, and epistemology in my practice. The sculpture celebrates the mysticism of rocks, and rock sites in the UK which permeate our ancestral spiritual past and collective consciousness.

‘Ritual’s’ composition was inspired from my visits to various stone circles across Wales and the Peak District, both small and megalithic structures, which continue to spark a fascination with their intended purpose, much of which remains debated among archaeologists and antiquarians. Although little is known about the specific events that took place, it is this deep mystery and the loss of information that inspired the creation of the sculpture. The activities associated with these rituals are shrouded in mystery, often coloured by folklore, legends, and representations in films and popular culture that link them to death, the devil, and witches. My use of the spikes mimics the pins and needles thought to have been used in witchcraft for casting both protective and hexing spells.

The colours in the work are my natural handmade flower pigments, which are layered throughout the resin. The act of sprinkling the flower pigment mimics the tradition of throwing flower petals during a ritual ceremony. Roses, in particular, hold multiple meanings in witchcraft and modern spell-making. The pattern created by the white wool suggests ripples in water, topography, or meditative practices like sand art from the East. Within my art practice, I have an appreciation for, and an unconscious blurring of boundaries between, the West and East, both of which share a common language of symbols in the physical and spiritual realms.

Wonderful to see one of my big wool sculptures, ‘Eternal Lakes’, in her new (green!) home. Seeing her position above a (decorative) fireplace takes me back to one of my first London exhibits, during my MA @rcasculpture, where I installed a wax sculpture in front of a fireplace in a derelict Victorian house - the installation of ‘Eternal Lakes’ felt like a real cyclical moment. Fireplaces often symbolise the heart of the home, representing warmth, comfort and a place where people can gather and hold intimate conversations, which feels like the perfect space for my ‘Eternal Lakes’ sculpture. The work was inspired by my trip to the Lake District, where I explored my own intimate conversations and explorations of the English landscape and the lost knowledge and ancient magic that it holds from our ancestors. The secrets are there for us to find…if only we can sit down, look and listen...

The majority of my art collectors are deeply private individuals, and I am often unable to share my works in situ, in their homes. Therefore, I would like to extend a special thank you to the owner of ‘Eternal Lakes’ for sharing the artwork photos with me and for allowing me to share them online.

If you would like to acquire one of my artworks for your own collection, please get in touch: artistlearosekara@googlemail.com

Much of my sculptural practice is directly informed by the field research I conduct. Over the past 3 years, I’ve visited a range of ancient stone sites across the UK - including stone circles, burial chambers, megalithic structures, and smaller formations throughout the Lake District, Peak District, Wales, and various National Nature Reserves. I’m always struck by the energy these places hold, some of which I feel very strongly.

The exact rituals once carried out at these sites by our ancestors - including the Druids - have largely been lost, erased, or dismissed as irrelevant within our science-driven, fact-obsessed society. It makes me wonder how much we have been conditioned in the ways we think and feel; how much free will we truly have in how we understand life, our place within it, and our relationship to Nature itself.

Perhaps the answer is not in separating one form of knowledge from another, but in exploring the space in between - the messy, intuitive, unexplainable territory between Nature, Science, and lost ancestral archaic magick. A place that might guide us beyond mythology and fairytale versions of the past, toward a more energetically connected future.

First slide shows my ‘Soft Rock’ sculpture. Hard foam, wool and wool dyed with sunflowers, daffodils, calendula, buttercups, pomegranate, hibiscus, beetroot, roses, figs, camellia, cabbage and blueberries, 53 x 55 x 60 cm, 2023.

Awakening Truth, wood, hard foam, resin, wool, bronze and wool dyed with tulips, 41 x 38 x 17 cm. 18cm bronze drop from sculpture base, 2024.

Currently on show @mandyzhangart as part of the ‘Enrooting’ exhibition. Exhibition Period: 21st November - 22nd December (22nd December -7th January by appointment only). Address: Mandy Zhang Art 16 Seymour Place, London, W1H 7NG. Opening Times: Wed to Fri: 11am-7pm, Sat to Sun: 11am-4pm.

“Awakening Truth is one of my dark wool sculptures that is inspired by documentaries about extraterrestrial life and books on fungi in space. I learned that thousands of meteorites hit planet Earth every year, and scientists hypothesize that the
extraterrestrial materials carried by these meteorites may have influenced the development of our early DNA. I find this idea fascinating, as it is still much debated among scientists.

The shape of Awakening Truth is inspired by the galls found on tree trunks, which are caused by insect
feeding or egg laying. The sculpture’s pod/nest-like characteristics and dark essence relates to my exploration of how forests—often viewed as
symbols of Mother Nature—embody a duality of wickedness and seduction in literature, myths, legends, and tales. This is particularly relevant when viewed through a feminist lens, highlighting its influence on our current psychological relationship with nature.”

🗣️ For private one-to-one tours of my works please DM or email me to book a date and time.

Lea Rose Kara @learosekara_art ’s ‘Evolve’ series echo ideas of rituals, the occult, and healing plant practices. The hemispheres are suggestive in their shape of an opening, a breast, genitalia. They are positioned like hills in the landscape or constellations in the sky, a soft seductive wool material in shades of yellow and green.
