Dutchess has blossomed into the sweetest buttercup.🏵 She knows how to go into her kennel on command and is more than comfortable sleeping in it throughout the night. She's mastering name recognition, recall, and sits so far. We're still working on walking and calmness but we're well on our way.

Our next milestone is spay surgery. We'll be out of commission in the training department while she's healing. Hoping she recovers quickly so we can get back to it! by @lechedeavocado

Dutchess 🌷

We rescued her from Stanislaus shelter about a month ago, and when she first arrived… she was terrified. She stayed in her crate for days, too scared to come out. Watching that was absolutely heartbreaking.

But this is why decompression matters.

Slowly, day by day, she started to realize she was safe. No loud shelter, no stress, no fear. Just a calm home, patience, and love.

And now… she’s coming out of her shell. You can see the shift. The soft eyes, the curiosity, the trust starting to build.

Dogs don’t show you who they truly are in the shelter. Fear takes over. They shut down. They survive.

It’s not until they decompress that their real personality starts to shine.

Dutchess is proof of that!

She’s still learning, still gaining confidence, but she’s already a completely different dog than the one we brought home.

If you’ve ever thought about fostering, this is why it matters. You’re not just giving them a place to stay, you’re giving them the chance to feel safe enough to be themselves.

Hello friends! I'm reaching out for support to help Dutchess, a dog recently rescued from a California shelter's euthanasia list. I'm contributing my time, care, and training expertise to help her thrive, and I invite you to join me in making a difference in her life.

Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us closer to giving Dutchess a brighter future. You can help with as little as $1 to $5. If you're able to support Dutchess, please click the link, tap 'Donate', enter your contribution amount, and add a note with her name.

She's currently en route to Washington state, and I'll be sharing updates on her journey to finding her forever home. Keep an eye out for her progress!

Birthday month - can't believe I'm 30!!

Filled with lots of food and laughter with friends and loved ones.. and of course animals! What more could I ask for? 🥰

My baby dog turned 8 years old, she's officially a senior girl but still a bad bitch.

There was so much more that I unfortunately didn't get to capture. Cheers to next year! by @lechedeavocado

Here's the 1st post in the "LET'S SEE HOW MANY PLACES WE HAVE TO VISIT BEFORE BUTCH GETS ADOPTED" series

Butch is a doodle boy that is physically about 9yrs old (almzost 10) but his spirit is ~3yrs. He loves working for his snacks. He does not do well with other male dogs. Butch would love an active home or a back yard.

Hard to believe that it's been 10 years by @lechedeavocado

This is our bookmark for the "before" results. An excited pup that needs help with his leash manners. This was actually day two. The first day, he was so distracted by everything that he didn't even care for the lure.

Yes. Even indoors where there wasn't much going on!
