At 67, Bernhard Lederer is often asked about his age and the future of the Manufacture.

Yet in his own mind, he still feels young.

When the quality offered by external dial suppliers no longer met his expectations, Bernhard decided to bring the necessary machines and expertise into the Manufacture.

To finance the project, he applied for a bank loan.

During the discussion, the banker told him that the situation was complicated because he was “too old.”

The words affected Bernhard deeply — but they did not change his decision.

Today, the quality and beauty of LEDERER dials demonstrate what can happen when conviction becomes stronger than doubt.

Because dreams do not have an age.

They belong to those who refuse to abandon them.

The future of watchmaking depends on what we choose to preserve — and what we still dare to pursue.

In the eighth and final chapter of 40 Moments with Bernhard, Bernhard Lederer reflects on transmission, independence, and the future of his craft.

Beyond developing new movements and escapements, he is now passing his knowledge to the next generation. Every component, manufacturing plan, and technical process has also been preserved to ensure that LEDERER watches can be serviced for at least the next one hundred years.
