I created this cover version of Video Games by Lana Del Rey by inputting each note into 2 Nintendo Gameboys using LSDJ cartridges. I am also performing bass notes with a Gameboy DS using a PixelH8 cartridge. Hello👋 I’ve been working on a lot of new music for the past few years and I’d love to finally share some of it! I haven’t released new solo music since Violet in 2022 but I’ve been consistently writing, shifting my setup, changing sounds, reconfiguring, etc. I’ve also done a number of really cool cover projects (Choirgirl, Fire Dance With Me, OK Computer) that have helped me hone my live setup.

I will get around to recording those covers someday but my priorities have shifted to my own writing. Please come be the first to hear some new Leeni songs at @southgaterollerrink on 8/7! I’ll be joined by my amazing friend @mountainholler who always delivers an incredible show.

Come! Rent skates! See music! Feel alive! ❤️❤️❤️

Seattle has changed a lot since I moved here 30 years ago. But it’s still a hotbed of staggeringly creative artists, and I’m so grateful to be able to witness things like this: last night @rabbitboxtheatre @leenirama played her interpretation of the entirety of OK Computer by Radiohead, incorporating her signature synth, game boy, and angelic vocals, and an out-of-time AV setup. Some guest musicians joined, and @snaxthebunny performed an interpretation of the Fitter Happier monologue. I was lucky enough to be seated right by the CRT that was part of the projection, so I got an extra special visual treat. It was ethereal and beautiful and emotional and so special. I’ve curated a couple of clips so you can get a feel for the experience. There’s a little Red Room Easter egg during the Electioneering clip.

The album’s themes about the oxymoronic experience of living in a capitalist, technology-obsessed, regressive hellscape are somehow more relevant today than in 1997. Thank for this unforgettable experience, Leeni!
