Sharing more images I made with @laikastudios for the #Wildwood movie. Super fun to work with such a great team! This was actually the first image I made for the project just to start living in the wildwood universe and get a feel for it. Super fun project! taken in Highlands Ranch, Colorado by @leewhiteillo

Happy summer ☀️ and happy ALA week -- hoping to see some of you here in Chicago at the conference.

In the meantime, we are over the moon to announce a new LK Literary client!

LEE WHITE is a writer and traditionally-trained illustrator who works in 🎨 watercolor, digital, and mixed media, combining strong design with a focus on storytelling. He is the illustrator of more than 20 children’s books and novels, like picture books: KATE, WHO TAMED THE WIND 🌬 (@anneschwartzbooks) by  Liz Garton Scanlon, which received 🌟 starred reviews from @kirkus_reviews and @sljournal; THIS PRETTY PLANET 🌎 (Atheneum) by singer/songwriters Tom Chapin and John Forster; and LOVE, SANTA 🎅 (@scholastic) by Martha Brockenbrough, which @publisherswkly called "elegant" in their 🌟 starred review; as well as poetry books like THE MAIN COON'S HAIKU 🐈 (@Candlewickpress) by Michael J. Rosen, which received 🌟 stars from Kirkus, SLJ, and PW, and novels like SUNSHINE (Candlewick) by Newbery Honor author Marion Dane Bauer, with 🌟 stars from PW and Kirkus.

Lee has also been an 🍎 educator for 25+ years with an emphasis on process that helps students build strong foundational illustration and design skills, and translate their ideas into clear, engaging images. 🖼 He taught full-time for over a decade at the Art Institute of Portland, where he developed and led the concept design curriculum, and is a co-founder of the School of Visual Storytelling (@svslearn), an online art education platform where he teaches courses and workshops to a global community of thousands of illustrators. He co-hosts the illustration 🎙 podcast "3 Point Perspective", which has released over 300 episodes and reached more than 2M downloads worldwide.

From a personal perspective, you might find Lee on a 🛹 skateboard, 🎿 skiing a mountain, 🛠 rehabbing a house, and hanging out with his family in Colorado!

Please join me in warmly welcoming Lee, and give him a follow @leewhiteillo where you can see his imagination magically brought to life! ✨️ by @leewhiteillo

Normally I post art and stuff, but this midterm election is too important. Early voting has already started in many places and we actually have a chance to change the horrible direction the US has taken in the past two years:
- Public Executions
- Roaming ICE agents taking people (or killing people)
- War in Iran
- Turning our allies against us
- Loss for protections against discrimination

The list goes on but you know what i'm talking about. Trump and his crew are out of control...

GO VOTE and lets stop this mess as best we can until 2028! by @leewhiteillo

This is a painting inspired by @victoria_semykina and her travels. I see such wonderful photos all over Instagram from my friends and it just makes me want to paint! Swipe to see her amazing photo and also a little color study I did on my iPhone using my finger and a little painting app called Pocket Easel by @leewhiteillo

Been a little quiet on insta as I work through my first semester at the University of Colorado Denver. These are some demos from my digital painting class. I really love teaching basic principles for some reason and this class really hits on that. It's less about using the programs and more about "seeing". Anyway, lots of other work happening behind the scenes, just can't post it now. Credit for this robot design go to jakeparker. I just rendered it as a painting exercise. : ) by @leewhiteillo

Work in progress.... "The air felt different that day..."

I do a lot of paintings based on little things I see or hear. I heard some students talking when I was walking to class and one of them said something about the air being different because fall is finally here. I pondered that and did this quick painting using that as a prompt.

Not sure if I'll spend a lot more time on it, but fun to do a quick paint.... by @leewhiteillo

A work in progress... this was another painting demo I made for my digital painting and illustration 1 class at CU Denver. I started this with the simple prompt of "Italian roast coffee". It's fun to dive in and try to make something out of almost nothing. : ) by @leewhiteillo

This is a demo I did for my illustration 1 class at CU Denver. The goal being how to take something sort of mundane or cliche and turn it into something more interesting. In this case, the generic idea of going hiking was what I started with. And through some simple brain storming we move things around, change scale and expectation, and end up somewhere hopefully more interesting. From here, there are numerous things we can do to further enhance it. Change the season to winter and add a yeti? Yep! Coming up next! : ) by @leewhiteillo
