An absolutely glorious week in residence at @townergallery supporting as Social Practice Producer for the incredible marvel of a human being @annamarianabirye_artist ✨ on her wonderful immersive installation The Funnest Room in the House - a portal into ancestral homelands of African and Caribbean diaspora celebrating the role of kitchens as rooms to eat, share memories, create culture, and foster belonging. What an honour to co produce this with @nicky.childs and @estherlouisecollins 🌟 🌟!
A week of gathering, food, tea, conversations, laughter, tears, reflections and so much JOY!
So many people (several 100’s of them) from all different backgrounds across Eastbourne and the wider Sussex Coast showed up!
Thank you 🙏🏾 Special thanks to @lahareem for wonderful observations. And to local partners @rooted.community.food , @eastbournefoodbank, Sanctuary Eastbourne, Bourne Primary & @enthumhouse for your participation 🙏🏾 🧡

In these times of such brutal division - gathering and communing within this installation in the warmth of our memories over food and storytelling is a reassurance of hope and humanity ✌🏾 ❤️

Next stop… Oldham 🙌🏽 by @lehnilamide74

The Funnest Room In The House, social practice producer Lehni Lamide Davies @lehnilamide74 and myself had a beautiful visit to @rooted.community.food allotment plot in Eastbourne today and the sun and dragon flies came out to greet us!

The Funnest Room In The House is about home and so it only feels right for the project to make home and connections wherever it pops up. We have been working with @townergallery and communities in Eastbourne for a year, getting to know the area and connecting to communities that are interested in the work.

One of the Rooted team commented how they liked the way the work links with the community, and I shared connecting, co-creating, collaborating, inviting, and sharing with community IS THE WORK. ✨️

Excited Rooted will be coming to hang out at The Funnest Room- will you? 💞🌻🌟 taken in Eastbourne Allotments & Gardens Society by @lehnilamide74
