🍲 FUNNEST ROOM IN THE HOUSE 🖌️ ANNA MARIA NABIRYE 📍 TOWNER, EASTBOURNE Rooted and friends from Sanctuary and Eastbourne Food Bank were invited to a nurturing community lunch at @townergallery this week. Anna Maria Nabirye’s immersive installation, Funnest Room in the House, acts as a portal back to the ancestral homelands of the African and Caribbean diaspora, honouring the importance of archiving ancestral memories. We shared our own memories and sensory recollections anchored in the heart of the home - the kitchen - which, in turn, created another layer within Anna Maria’s kitchen. When more friends arrived, we moved another table from the installation and set extra places from the drawers in the kitchen. It was beautiful to be a living, breathing part of the work. Our stories will be woven within as it travels, gathering and sharing more conversations along the way. Our truly beautiful experience will live on, as everyone present took away something meaningful… and there might even be a Rooted community lunch on our menu soon! @annamarianabirye_artist @lehnilamide74

The Funnest Room In The House, social practice producer Lehni Lamide Davies @lehnilamide74 and myself had a beautiful visit to @rooted.community.food allotment plot in Eastbourne today and the sun and dragon flies came out to greet us! The Funnest Room In The House is about home and so it only feels right for the project to make home and connections wherever it pops up. We have been working with @townergallery and communities in Eastbourne for a year, getting to know the area and connecting to communities that are interested in the work. One of the Rooted team commented how they liked the way the work links with the community, and I shared connecting, co-creating, collaborating, inviting, and sharing with community IS THE WORK. ✨️ Excited Rooted will be coming to hang out at The Funnest Room- will you? 💞🌻🌟

We held a Board Away Day at St Margaret’s House @st.margarets.house in their new Studio space earlier this month, thanks to Becky (our former chair) and Jonno (former fundraising legend) and all the team for hosting us. We had a very productive day, kicking things off with a Mindfulness session led by Emily, grounding us all into the space 🙏 The rest of the day we split into subgroups to discuss strategic planning for the future and SWOT analysis, working in the room and some joining online. Alex gave a therapies presentation with an overview of the ongoing therapies work TF are running across Croydon, Merton and Sutton. They have just begun trialling an outdoor project, taking time in nature during the sessions, which was requested by the young people. More on this soon! 🌱 And it wouldn’t be TF without mentioning food 😋 we enjoyed a delicious lunch by the Gallery Cafe at St Margaret’s House and if you’re looking for a space for a rehearsal, R&D or Away Day, we would defo recommend their new studio space (pictured) FOLLOW ➡️ @st.margarets.house Tangled Feet Board are Rae Leaver Rahman @raeleaverrahman (Co-Chair) Lehni Lamides @lehnilamide74 (Co-Chair) Adeyinka Adeyonka @adeyinkaakinrinade Becky Lees Matthew Trustman Sandro Forte Tangled Feet core team are Nathan Curry Kat Joyce @vaguechera Alex Ramsden @rammo37 Alyson Jones @mrs_a_j Debo Adebayo @deboa Emily Eversden @emev1981 Mario Christofides @mario.christofides Mandy Precious @drmprecious Sara Templeman Also joining us was Manuel who is on placement with us at the moment @manuel.ruiz__ #BoardOfTrustess #Trustees #AwayDay
