Get ready for a special double bill on October 15 ✨

We’re starting the night with a screening of the documentary ‘Mineshaft: The Cruising Murders’ (2026), in which we explore the controversial 1980 film ‘Cruising’, the ferocious protests from the queer community that accompanied its production, driven by fear it would fuel violence and bigotry, and the real-life murders that inspired the film.

Afterwards, we’ll also screen the original film, in which an undercover cop played by Al Pacino infiltrates New York’s gay BDSM scene to track down a serial killer who has been stalking and murdering gay men. One ticket provides access to both films.

♦️

Over the weekend the 2026 LIFF Youth Jury came together for the first time to follow workshops by industry professionals, in order to get them ready for the festival! @iamlisadanilkovych and Eva from @motiondamesproductions taught them all about film production while our Head of Programming, @jetske_br, shared the ins and outs of film programming. @stefaniegordin spoke about film criticism, and @vincenttilanus took them behind the scenes of filmmaking.

What’s next for the Youth Jury? Coming together during LIFF to watch a special lineup of films, which we will share more about soon.

♦️

The Leiden International Film Festival is right around the corner and of course we’re joining forces again with @wibar_leiden! 🎬

On Wednesday October 14th we screen the cult classic To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar, following three drag queens on a road trip gone sideways. Afterwards the floor is ours: expect live drag performances (by @theonlykain) to close out the night.

On Tuesday October 13th it’s Food & Film, with a screening of the Taiwanese classic Eat Drink Man Woman, three sisters, one demanding father and a Sunday dinner table that says more than words ever could. Alice de Jong, writer of the Bible of Chinese Cuisine, and Max Plompen from Bekokstoofd put together a special menu to match.

On Monday October 12th it’s the annual @leideniff Filmquiz: trivia, stills, clips and music, a proper workout for eyes, ears and brains.

And on Sunday October 11th we open the week with a Cinematic Beertasting, speciality beers and bites paired with a run of standout film clips.

Tickets and full details on LIFF’s website. We hope to see you there! taken in Leiden, the Netherlands by @leideniff
