Grateful to be part of the current exhibition, Escher & Islamic Art: 20 Perspectives, at Escher in the Palace @escherinpaleis in the Netherlands alongside so many incredible artists.The exhibition brings the work of M.C. My solo presentation ‘Mirrored Horizons’ is currently on view at @thethirdlinedxb in Dubai until January 26th 💫‘Mirrored Horizons’ delves into themes of cross-cultural exchange, drawing inspiration from the two cultures that have shaped her identity: Iran and the United States. The skateboards feature rich geometric patterns, mirror mosaics, and motifs such as the “Flower and Nightingale” (Gol o Bolbol). Leila Nazarian’s first solo exhibition in Paris ✨Join us for the opening reception on Thursday 3rd October 2024 from 6pm Nous avons l’immense plaisir de vous annoncer la première exposition de Leila Nazarian à Paris dont le vernissage aura lieu le jeudi 3 octobre à partir de 18h.Born in Santa Monica, Leila Nazarian juxtaposes an iconic object from her hometown in California, the skateboard, with traditional Iranian craftsmanship including Khatamkari, Ayne kari and Ghalamzani, as well as the popular motif of “Gol o Bolbol”. Other new works include surfboards adorned with mirror mosaics that take inspiration from traditional Iranian compositions as well as retro surfboard patterns from the 80s in California.Collectively, the final result is a harmonious and unique cross-cultural exchange that takes the viewer on a surreal journey.
