When you look at your studio dog and see her covered in gold leaf, along with every other surface, you know it’s been a productive day.

I started this painting with the plan of adding the gold, but I still had to push through the fear of ruining all the hard work I’d already put in. All of you were so encouraging to add it! I appreciate that so much, and your support really helped me push forward.

I want the gold leaf to be the thread that weaves this collection together.

I spread my wings with this one and am so thankful for a client that let me fly! @resa_roman filled out my commission form and told me she wanted to decorate her new office. Ever since my trip to Seattle this summer I had envisioned this painting so I’m so thankful she let me run with it! Fall in the Lowcountry doesn't look like fall anywhere else. 🦪

No pumpkins, no crisp air. Just woodsmoke and salt air, oyster knives cracking shells on a newspaper-covered table under the live oaks, somebody's playlist drifting off the river, and somebody else yelling that the next bushel's ready.

That's the evening I painted into this towel: oysters and blue crabs, oyster knives, lemons and hot sauce, a crackling fire, Adirondack chairs, marsh views, and a blue heron keeping watch.

What is keeping you from starting your art business?

I remember that feeling. Knowing something creative was in me and being so frustrated I wasn't doing anything about it.

In 2018, I finally started very simple: a few prints I somehow got the courage to sell to a local store. I realized little things sold quicker than big, so I made some notecards. I was invisible on Etsy, so I got in front of my local audience. People started asking me to do paintings. Then my graphic design background kicked in, and I started turning my paintings into products.

If it's in you, just start. Start small but start. Growth comes from pushing through and showing up. 🤍

Today is World Mental Health Day, and I wanted to share something a little more personal. 💛

I struggle with anxiety, and one of the healthiest ways I’ve found to channel it is through creativity.

I truly believe God made me a creative, and I’m so grateful for that gift. Whether I’m painting, designing, or simply making something with my hands, the creative process has a way of quieting my mind and bringing me peace.

For me, creativity isn’t just what I do. It’s part of how I heal.

I know I’m not alone in this. Can you relate? Does creating something help you find a little peace, too?

TODAY IS THE DAY! 🥂✨

It’s been months in the making, and I can hardly believe we’re finally here!

What started as a one-woman operation quickly turned into a full-blown family affair. My entire family has been enlisted, and they have worked SO hard to help bring this show to life. I couldn’t have done it without them. ❤️

I’m incredibly grateful to Montage Palmetto Bluff for this beautiful opportunity, to Meg James, and to my wonderful group of fellow artists for their encouragement, support, and for helping make this all happen.

Now it’s time to celebrate! 🥂

Come raise a glass of champagne rosé with me this afternoon as we celebrate the opening of The Gilded Lowcountry!

At this point, Daisy and I are just trying to find a clear path through the house. 😂

There is officially not one inch of downstairs that hasn’t been taken over by canvases, frames, gold leaf, or something waiting to be loaded into the car. The Gilded Lowcountry has completely moved in.

Tomorrow is DELIVERY DAY, which means we are officially at that stage where it’s way too late to turn back. 😅 And honestly, getting to the finish line has taken the entire Holmes family. Everyone has been recruited. Even Daisy, although her contribution is mostly following me around looking deeply concerned about my choices.

And then Thursday… 🥂✨ we celebrate!

A local artist @leliholmes hand drew the buildings and places around our little town and turned them into the most beautiful wallpaper. Every time you look a little closer, there’s another familiar detail waiting to be found.

And maybe my favorite part? My kids play I Spy with the walls—searching through all the little buildings until they find our local donut shop. 🍩🥹 It’s one of those tiny details that makes a house feel so much more like home.

It feels nostalgic, personal, and a little bit magical—like wrapping our walls in a love letter to the place we’re raising our family. by @leliholmes
