Last Saturday’s @troubadourfestival finale began at 10am with Troubadour Treehouse family programming in Meridian Place and on the Troubadour Street Stage.

The live music continued at the street stage into the afternoon leading up to the evening’s entertainment at the main stage in Meridian Place.

Thank you to everyone visited, shopped, sipped and savoured everything Downtown Barrie has to offer.

September 26 is Music Day in Canada and Daniel's will have a FULL DAY of FREE entertainment kicking off at 11am.

The nationwide event, led by Lemmon Entertainment, celebrates Canada's live music, creativity and community. And thanks to NS Spirit Co, Schwartz Furniture, Daniel's and the tremendous effort of Debbie Mullins, the event in Sydney will be completely FREE.

The Sydney MDIC lineup includes:
11am Steve Luxton
5pm D-Rock Youth Sessions
9pm Aaron MacDonald and Brandon Collier

So excited to share one of the projects we’ve been supporting through The Lemmon Foundation 💛

Over the past year, we’ve been working with @carlyreirson as she conceptualized and planned for The Homecoming Tour.

On Saturday, Feb 21, she’ll be bringing that work to life at Revue Stage (Granville Island) with a full band and local string quartet something you don’t often see in intimate rooms like this. The arrangements are beautiful, and it’s been amazing to watch this come together.

If you’re an artist, producer, presenter, or part of the music community, I’d genuinely love to connect with you there. Please feel free to come say hi!!! These nights are about building relationships as much as sharing music and we love supporting the artists and collaborations that come out of the networking!

Canada’s music culture often lives in the space between big stages and small rooms. The world knows the names that fill stadiums and top global charts. Yet, just one block away, there is often a basement show, a café open mic, or a community festival where someone performs for twenty people and gives all they have. This balance between global success and local roots shapes the soul of the scene.

Our country is wide, cold, and far apart. Because of that, music grows in quiet pockets across smaller towns, remote regions, and lesser-known provinces, where local halls and open fields become stages. In Dawson City, Yukon, long winter nights turn into intimate folk sessions. In Corner Brook, Newfoundland and Labrador, the ocean shapes songs that blend old maritime stories with modern indie voices. In Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, community centers bring country, hip-hop, and youth collectives under one roof. In Thunder Bay, Ontario, the lake and forests shape a raw, honest rock scene.

These places shape artists long before they reach the big cities. Vancouver adds coastal calm and indie warmth. Toronto brings restless energy and cultural mix. Montreal offers a poetic, artistic edge. Each place tells a chapter of the same book.

Canada’s music feels like a long conversation between many histories. You hear Caribbean rhythms, Middle Eastern tones, folk mixed with hip-hop, and the deep presence of Indigenous voices that ground the sound of this land. Alongside them, influences from Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe, and Latin America meet in one shared space. It feels like neighbors sharing stories at a long table.

Behind the scenes, there is quiet kindness. Artists share stages, recommend friends for gigs, and trade tips about grants, studios, and venues. Success here feels less like a race and more like a group journey across a wide, unknown landscape.

In the end, what makes this scene special is belonging. Whether on a small-town stage or a city club, you become part of a shared story. A country of many voices, many paths, and one deep love for sound💙
