This Saturday, 4/25, is National Rx Takeback Day. You can safely dispose of those old, unused, or expired prescription medications that are cluttering up your medicine cabinet.

We will have a drive-thru lane set up in the front parking lot of the Lenexa Justice Center for your convenience. We can accept pills, patches, and medical sharps such as needles. Don't let these medications fall into the wrong hands or potentially be abused by others.

Last week, we celebrated the graduation of our latest Citizens Police Academy class!

Over the past 10 weeks, participants got a behind-the-scenes look at how the Lenexa Police Department operates, with hands-on exposure to several of our specialized units. From SWAT and K9 to Investigations, Patrol Operations, Drones, and more, this group fully immersed themselves in the experience.

Since 1997, the Citizens Police Academy has remained one of our most impactful community engagement programs, building connections, increasing transparency, and giving residents a deeper understanding of what we do every day.

Interested in joining us for the next session? Applications are now open for our upcoming class beginning in September. Learn more or apply at Lenexa.com/PolicePrograms. by @lenexapolice

The Kansas City area, including Lenexa, is expected to experience dangerous winter weather this weekend, with bitterly cold temperatures and accumulating snow. These conditions can quickly lead to hazardous and potentially life-threatening travel conditions.

The safest place to be during a winter storm is off the roads. If at all possible, please delay travel and stay home until conditions improve. If you must travel, slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and remember that bridges and overpasses freeze first and pose the greatest crash risk.

Please continue to monitor local forecasts and take precautions to keep yourself and others safe. by @lenexapolice

Pet Safety Reminder ❄️🐾

This isn’t just a little chilly—temperatures and wind chills are expected to drop into the negative digits this weekend, which can be life-threatening for pets. Limit time outdoors, provide warm, dry shelter with fresh (unfrozen) water, and bring pets inside whenever possible.

If it’s too cold for you, it’s too cold for them. 🐾 by @lenexapolice
