She came for the one in the window - 🏆 Annie Pope’s winning Australia design and she left with more than 1️⃣ … and I was sitting in the cafe next door minding my own business …. I have all these spare atomisers out of the box they’ve either been used for experiments or just been lying around - we rrp them for 125aud each - where they are empty I will provide a sample of Opera Avenue - a lovely summer scent - a little like Aventus but not - and an additional spare atomiser so you can put your favourite scent in there. Limited to 2 per person. Leave a comment with a thumbs up 👍 and then send us your postal address and mobile number in a direct message as well as your full name in case you have one of those funny instagram handles. Why am I doing this ? Because I can ! And I have all my new scents to work with in the rest of my atomisers. Happy Friyay. Oh and some of them have engraved names on the bottom and some are scratched in places but my word they are handy in the car, in your hand luggage, in your sports bag or your suit pocket. At times I can’t myself believe what some of our customers write it’s perhaps part of my own insecurities that I’m somewhat distrusting of praise. I also feel if you get caught up in it you may get sloppy. But - I do like the idea that we remain personal to our customers whether by phone or text or in person at the Studio or on our instagram. The Design A Bow Tie Silk Competition Starts Now - Entries Close NYE 2026.

In 1999 the New Years Eve Sydney Harbour Bridge display was lit up with one word. Eternity. Words, so powerful, can resonate with people as strongly, in my opinion, as an image, sometimes stronger. There are passages of text which can still make me weep for just how beautifully they were written, Il Gattopardo springs to mind.

Our next competition is finding words, one word but up to 5 words. And design them into a 10cm squared design in a digital file that we can render and turn into a bow tie or neck tie. How you go about your design, the characters you choose, how you place them, whether you place a texture in the background, the font, the choice is completely yours. We are only looking for creativity and meaning. So accompanying it with a blurb will be helpful.

1000 AUD to the winner. A neck tie or bow tie sent to them upon completion of the silk.

Eternity - the chosen word of Arthur Strace, said to have been written on the streets of Sydney for 34 years continuously, more than 500,000 times, in the wee hours of the morning by a recovering alcoholic, a WW1 veteran, who heard a sermon on things that go beyond our lifetime, written with the impermanence of chalk, a reminder that everything decays and all humans pass through life, and raising the questions of what lies beyond, and perhaps challenging us as to how we want to live spiritually between now and when we no longer exist. Jazz hands … my brother was the first to ever say to me “it is the duty of every wealthy man to give a job to the artisan” and whilst I don’t want to weigh into the 🤖 debate I was considering the other day about how much our hands are still involved in daily life. My barista, the guy that does our gardening, my tailor, my jeweller, the man that bakes my steak bacon and cheese pies (I try to stay away I promise). On some of our designs we are deploying 🤖 but then the winner of our first silk scarf competition, Kieran Davis @davis_davis_davis was all done by hand and the roll stitched on the hem, done by hand. So before we get anxious that all our jobs will be taken from us, perhaps we should do two things - consider how many hands are still involved in our daily lives and that we should support all those people that do use their hands each day to produce things that add value to our lives. And as the great Milton Friedman once spoke of the simple pencil ✏️ and how trade brings together people from all walks of life; from different countries, different faiths, different skill sets, to bring together graphite, rubber, wood, metals - combined into one product - so I consider that what we make is not just solely ours - it is the culmination of people working in Italy, Korea, Japan, Holland, China and Australia to bring you a finished product - each with their own specific skill set. #Bespoke #lenoeudpapillon #artisan #madeinaustralia by @lenoeudpapillon
