POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

I would LOVE to illustrate more covers, and interior spots in the future! Here is my version of 🐦‍⬛ ‘the Grudge’ as a book cover for @illustrationmfa

I’ll be in NYC next week with the MFA cohorts! Can’t wait! 🏙️

Happy #kidlitartpostcard day to all who celebrate! I give to you a group of disapproving foxes also known as a skulk (true story!)

I’ve been a little slow posting new kidlit pieces… I’ve been working hard on some new stories!

Fun fact: 🐦‍⬛ Crows are excellent at remembering a face, they can hold grudges for up to 17 years. They also remember kindness ✨

Silhouette Portrait of Rachel Carson 🌊

Rachel Carson was a marine biologist, prolific writer, and conservationist whose work has advanced marine conservation and the environmental movement.

This portrait is part of my middle grade graphic novel series of Environmental Advocates…. More to come!

During this summer’s @illustrationmfa session I explored a a few spreads of a personal graphic memoir piece in @rebeccamock graphic novel class ✨. It’s a project about the places that embody our stories and what happens when the spaces no longer belong to us. I wanted to try something new and different, and the project made me excited and deeply uncomfortable 😆 (still does) I plan to keep developing this piece and gathering more courage to create loose and personal stories! by @lenzillustration

Diving back into some graphic novel thesis work of “Her Deepness” @dr.sylviaearle and her historic 1979 dive of 1250ft observing the firefly light of the deep sea.

Self portrait 🌷 scroll for details and preliminary sketches and process video.

This piece was my reaction piece from my trip to Atlanta with @illustrationmfa - that week was filled with amazing speakers and even a trip to the botanic gardens as fields of tulips bloomed. I was super inspired, but also completely bogged down with a sinus infection. This piece captures the pressure of being buried while still growing upward.

9x22 gauche, colored pencil, pan pastel and gold leaf on board ( I had fun with materials!)

I’m back home from two weeks at the @illustrationmfa summer session. Here are few of my favorite pages from my experimental sketch book from last week’s experimental class with @martharich63 and @roberthuntstudio What a good reminder to take time to play ✨ ( spray paint and bleach are fun!) Thank you! by @lenzillustration

Dr. Sylvia Earle 🐋 Her Deepness

Known for her record-breaking dives, dedication to marine biology, and lifelong commitment to the the heath and preservation of the oceans with @mission_blue . @dr.sylviaearle

I’ve been working away on a graphic novel that integrates the stories of female conservationists. This is a portrait piece from the book! This is a thesis project for @illustrationmfa - I’ll share more as I go!

It’s beginning to look a lot like summer ☀️☀️☀️

An oldie but a summery pattern design. I’d love to make a few different versions of these 🌼

Hope you have a sunny weekend!

A messy #workinprogress post as proof of life 😆 I've been working away on lots of projects that I'm so excited about. This illustration was originally inspired by @phillymagicgardens for my @illustrationmfa #bookcoverart by @lenzillustration
